RJolly:  Happy Birthday!!! and enjoy your day today and may God bless you with many more!  I too had gained about 30 pounds and I'm now working on losing those 30 pounds.  I just lost 12 pounds and it took me 3 months to do it.  Just cutting back and cutting out most carbs.

yes, it does take a long time.  I never thought it would take this long just to lose 12 pounds, but at least I lost it.  I exercise 5 days a week.  I walk 3 days and I do some weight training on 2 days.  Sometimes, I'll get in a 6th day, but not always.  I did drop a dress size.  I mainly stick with proteins first and low carbs second.  I cut out breads and all starchy carbs.  It seems to be working, but it is a slow process and we can do this.  I even fix my own soups to make sure its not a cream based or pasta based soup.  Mostly vegetables and meat with a chicken or beef stock base.

We can help each other!  We can do this!

Yes, you are so correct!  Anyway, it took me longer than I thought to lose these 12 pounds.  I think I should be further along than where I am, based on what I'm eating, but I guess it doesn't work that way.  I exercise 5 days a week, 3 days of walking and 2 days of light weight training.  Sometimes I'll get in a 6th day of execise, but not always.  I eat lean proteins first, then low carb veggies.  I had to cut out breads and starchy veggies.  I found that when I ate those, the weight didn't budge or I seemed to gain, so I cut those out for a month and my weight loss picked up again.  Sugary snacks was not a problem for me because after 4.5 years, my body still can't tolerate them.  I do feel better, my energy is up and I'm actually enjoying life.  Am I tempted with breads?  Only when we go out to dinner because I don't keep it in the house unless its whole wheat and low carb, and to combat this, I started carrying whole wheat crackers in a ziplock bag with me, so while everyone is enjoying their breads, I'll pull out my crackers.  It works!

We can do this and we can help each other!
