Does anyone know if we malabsorb Boniva? Or can we benefir from it. I now have osteopenia,,,,,,and am sitting here with 2 broken wrists. all the calcium, magnesium and Vit. D doesn't seem to be helping too much.
Thanks

Shar

How much and what type if cal, mag and D are you taking?

I took a 5 yr course of Actonel (weekly) but same family of drugs. I got a 5% improvement. I had a Reclast infusion in April, but I won't see how that worked out til NEXT April. UGH.

I've done/taken everything possible since my dx in 2000. I take K1, K2, boron, strontium and so on.

Where I didn't excel was "weight bearing exercise". Didn't do that very faithfully.

If you take Boniva, be sure to follow the directions precisely.

Michelle,

I take UpCal D 3 times a day, your tender magnesium 2x a day and your dry Vit D 50K 3x a week.

If I take Boniva, do I cut out all the other stuff? What about the calcium?

Thanks

Shar

So, with upcal, you're getting about 300mg elemental calc & some D. You'd need way more calcium.

The advisement with the bisphosphenates is that you cannot take them with low calc or D levels, and you can be sure 300mg won't hold you
