I read a previous post about omega 3 & was wondering how that is a need for WLS people?
I've gained 8 lbs since last yr. And I know that isn't alot but I never made it to my goal. So add the 45 lbs that I still packed around, the 8 lbs, it is a lot. the charts say I am still obese. (I hate that word). I'm short, only 5 ft so at 183 I am still big. I also carry it all in my thighs & hips. Very odd shaped. lol. Kinda like a large pear.

We malabsorb some fats/oils, so we are not getting our fair share of the Omegas.

We use Coromega to get that in. Emulsified, kinda like a spoonful of pudding. No, doesn't taste like fish

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

Do you sell that.  Never heard of it.  Please tell us about it.

yes, i do. tested it in my own blood before I'd offer it. who ever heard of fish oil in a non-fish oil form, right?

If you have gained 8 pounds and never made it to goal, the problem is not in any one supplement and Omega 3 (any thing else) will not be a magic bullet.

You can take the supplement, but you still need to eat less and excercise more.

I take it for my cholesterol...I've always had a problem with high cholesterol but after surgery it came down and it seems to be getting better. I've never had a problem with fish taste with it but some people do.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

I've just started taking Krill oil as an Omega 3 supplement. They are a fairly new marketed item, so who knows what they will say about its efficacy in a year's time. Prior to this, I wasn't taking fish oil, mostly because of the possible pollutants, nor was I taking flax oil, mostly because the caplets are so huge!

Anyway, krill oil is suppose to be better than fish oil (it's also more expensive), having antioxidants and less of a likelihood of containing pollutants.

I agree that lacking any one supplement is probably not the cause of your weight gain. As they say, its a matter of eating less and moving more! Simply said, but difficult to do.

Have you tried going to a post-op support group meeting? Or a back-on-track meeting? Even Weigh****chers may be of help. I hate the word "obese" too. I prefer to call myself a "work in progress".

Also, I've heard/read that weight carried around the thighs and hips is less harmful than weight carried around the middle (like me - I'm an apple), but it is also very difficult to lose.

Good luck!
