Sick and hurting? - Definite TMI Alert !

My doc wants me to go for a gallbladder ultrasound, and I am going to make my appointment in the morning.

That being said, I am two years out of RNY, and for about the past month, I've been having problems with my stomach. Lots of aches, often pretty painful, accompanied by nausea and the occasional upchuck. My doc says he thinks I probably have gall stones, but I do have one pretty serious part of this that I've never heard of anyone with gallstones having.

I can maybe eat 1/5 of what was normal for me three weeks ago, and what I do eat might or might not make it all the way down into my stomach. It's like it gets stuck right before it makes its way down and just won't go into my stomach. Dinner was an hour ago, but I am still producing green beans and foam. (Sorry, I know it's gross, but what on earth is going on?****il about three weeks ago, I couldn't sick up anything but foam, and now it's dinner an hour later?

I wouldn't even be here asking except like an idiot, I forgot to tell my doc about the can't swallow sometimes part.  I was so worried about how bad it's been hurting that I just forgot until supper tonight.

Anybody?

PS - my bariatric surgeon hasn't seen me since I was in the hopsital for my RNY and doesn't appear to be interested at all in post-op problems. I'm seeing my regular doc for everything now.

Sounds awful.  I'm so sorry.  I would suggest that you see a gastroenterologist ASAP.  I have one and love him.

I think that you need more than a gallbladder ultra sound-  sounds like you have an obstruction and that is not something to mess around with. A primary care doctor is not going to solve that for you.  If your surgeon isn't following you post-op, then ask your pcc to refer you to some one else pronto!

You might be having a restriction; the cure is an endoscopic procedure which is easily done under light anesthesia.  Talk to your WLS surgeon re: this problem.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input!

My appointment is Wednesday, though I have promised my DH that I will go to the ER if anything gets worse.

As quickly as it got bad, it just stopped the morning after I posted this. I had a great, pain-free day and felt like a million bucks - for a day, then it was right back to the sick, achy, can't-eat person I was two days before.

My kid sister is having gall bladder promblems, and she says that for her, it's exactly like what's going on with me, just without the can't swallow part. I suspect that my stomach is rebelling against anything going in there at all, and as a result, everything sort of knots up. While I don't feel great now, it's still now as bad as it was for a couple of days, so I am going to wait and see.

Thanks again for input, and I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind!!

It's my gall bladder - I have stones and an appointment with a surgeon. Ugh.
