ANYONE A VEGETARIAN?

I was wondering if anyone is a vegetarian, how do you stick to a high protein low carb diet? What's a typical day of meals for you?  I'm seriously considering becoming a vegetarian, I've already stopped eating all meats except for some ocassional fish.  However, I have 30 lbs that I've gained & need to lose, but I don't see how I can do this without loading up on animal protein!  Suggestions?  Thank you!

I am not a vegetarian but my daughter and mother one day decided that they wanted to go vegetarian for 1 month and that was 6 months ago. They both have lost weight (my daughter went from size 12 to an 8), their skin is so pretty and they say they feel so much better.
Seafood is there main source of protein. Mussels, shrimp, fish, oysters and crab.
They have come up with some really good recipes using tofu instead of meat. At first they noticed that their bread and pasta consumption doubled because they cut out the mean but now they cut that out and they only eat one or another once a day.
I think it's possible for you to do it. Cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt, seafood and tofu, veggie burgers and vegetables, protein shakes and protein bars are good choices to start with.
There are a lot of low carb/vegetarian sites on the net. Google a couple and get some ideas!
My mom says it makes her very aware of what she eats now.

Good luck!

I'm flexitarian: the term "they" give to people for whom over half their meals are meatless.  This wasn't a choice or anything its just the way my diet evolved after surgery.  Dense meats require effort to eat and I just don't want to fight with my food all the time.

First off, I have three protein supplements a day just like after surgery.  That's 60g per day before we even look at the real food.  Second, not all carbs are created equal.  Spinach is likely 90% carbohydrate but you can't equate that to a slice of cake.  When all is said and done, the carbohydrates in fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains really shouldn't count.

The biggest problem I see is with the "spaghetti vegetarians" typified by tweenage girls who want to "go veg" but wouldn't know macro and mico nutrients from Hannah Montana so all they end up eating is spaghetti and cheese pizza.

Meals for me are like this:

Breakfast:
Kashi Nuggest ceral with fruit or an omelette
Lunch:
Cottage Cheese and Greek Yogurt with Granola
Supper:
Highly variable, soup, stew, leftovers the occaisonal Cheeseburger Happy Meal.

One source for recipes I like is Vegetarian Times magazine.  Being flexitarian, I'll use real Chorizo instead of Soyrizo or whatever but the recipes are flavorful and inspiring.  Another place to look is India.  Being largely vegetarian their cuisine has lots of good recipes like this one
