Hello~! I had surgery 10-05 and have done fairly well. I was curious about how much daily protein intake is normal for being this far out?  I try to watch out for carbs and all, but sometimes the pretzel monster overtakes me and i give in. I havent really counted my protein in awhile and was wondering if i should, and how much should i be getting. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Have a great day!

Hi Jode,

I am no expert, thats for sure...I'm 4+ yrs out and yes I still track protein and all the other goodies too on "the daily plate" but thats just me, I'm hyper paranoid about generally following the rules so I don't EVER get fat again and that for me means tracking & a daily meeting at the scale

As to your question, I think if your annual labs are good and say you have nice protein levels, you are maintaining your loss- not re-gaining, and you eat protein with every meal as biggest portion on the plate ( except maybe a salad, just because lettuce has so much bulk )...Then you are doing fine and shouldn't worry about tracking...If you are struggling with any of these areas, it might be worth you time to track you foods, at least for a month or two...

Congratulations on all you have accomplished...

I am just over a year out and the nutritionist/dietician I work with suggests besteen 75-100 gms of protein daily.
Hope this helps.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

Hi, I had my surgery in Feb. 05.  I saw my surgeon on Tuesday and he suggested I have 100 grams of protein daily.  Good luck!
