5 day pouch test - any advise
I am almost 4 years out and was at a resent support group meeting and heard about a gal doing the 5 day pouch test. She said she bought the book online and read it, did the 5 day pouch test and said her carb cravings are gone and it reset her pouch and she eats like when she was first post op (I think she is 1 or maybe 2 years post op). The question I have is can anyone give me some info about the 5 day pouch test. I don't have the money to buy the book but have looked at the website and got as much "free" info as possible. I started the pouch test on Monday. The gal from class said no milk products but the website says SF pudding and protien drinks w/milk are ok. I am just confused. I am on my 2nd day of liquids and doing ok so far just a little tired. I didn't cut out the coffee though.....I can't function without my morning java.
Thanks,
Monica

I have the book and am starting on Sun or Mon after I make a trip to the grocery. You can have milk in your protein shakes, high protein jello (made with powdered egg whites??), high protein pudding, and soups from their recipes.
Per the book - Ideally the first two days would be spent drinking only protein drinks, clear broth, tea, and water. However, depending on your food habits leading into the 5DPT this can be quite drastic causing hunger, dizziness, and frustration. So, more substantial soups were added made of animal protein, legumes, beans, and low-glycemic vegetables. The soup recipes are for black bean soup, ham and split pea, cream of turkey, etc.
Hope this helps a little. They also say to eat (or drink) a meal in 15 minutes and NO liquids 30 prior or 30 min after each meal.
