I had surgery 7 years ago.  I was good at maintaining my surgery until the 6th year hit.  I have went from 150/155 to 185/190.  I have no clue on where to start to regain my focus and loose the pounds.  Please my fellow graduates HELP.

I don't know if your surgeon has a nutrit. but that's where I'd go first.  If you can make an appt. to go and speak to her/him it could help.

I'd also try and up the protein, fluid and cut the carbs, sugars, etc.

Best of luck.

Hi Chris
At least you caught it at 25 lbs.  Please join Dawns accountability posts.  I have a whole lot more to re-lose than you do.  Then we can maintain together.  It seems to me that weight regain after WLS is a real problem.  My nut suggested Weigh****chers and I go to the meetings.  (I have to go incognito as WLS excludes us from the meetings).  I really need to watch carbs apparently.  Today I totaled up the carbs on the healthy general diet I was trying to follow post  op.  It has 250 gm of carbs and 100 gms of protein.  I was starving hungry all the time and was on a blood sugar roller coaster.  I was eating twice as much as I am now and was more hungry all the time.

I would suggest keeping track on www.fitday.com.  Log as you go and watch your totals and when you get hungry eat what you need to meet your nutritional requirements.

I think the second time around we concentrate on learning how to eat rather than just losing weight.  That is the only way we can maintain in the long run.  They also have an activity counter and a calorie balance graph.

Welcome back and you will get back down again.

First place to start is to find out where you are. Journal your food and see where you are intake wise..Once you know what your intake looks like, you can make changes. Just learning what you are eating and measuring your food for a while is a BIG eye opener..

Good luck!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I am 5 years 9 months post op and up until 4 months ago I was maintaning easily. Having a hard time trying to still lose but maintaining. NOW it seems no matter what I do the # on the scale increases and it is eating me up. I go to see my surgeon for my monthly B12 and check in (yes I still see him every month- I always believed its what kept me on tract). M home scale this morning said I was 208.4 . The Docs scale is normally 3 pounds lower so I am figuring about 205 as my official weight and I just wanna die. I feel beyond embarrased. I was maintaining an average weight of 194. The only change I made was a new prescription iron pill but weight gain is not a side effect. I have hypothryoidism and have contached my endocrinologist and we are doign blood tests but so far nothing to explain this constant gain. My diet hadnt cahnged nor did my activity until last month I started "dieting" and walking everywhere and still I will be up about 7 pounds from last month. I feel lost.  Everyhting that was working for me for almost 6 years has stopped and even that was taking alot of effort. I truly dont know what else to do.

Please know you are not alone
