How often do you have to "bring food up" ?
I am eight years out and I still having "stuck" issues on a regular basis. It is usually something dense, such as salmon, steak, chicken, etc. It may never go away, or you could have a stricture. I had to be stretched early on, and this still did not remedy the situation completely. Good luck, and use lots of gravy and sauces on your food!
I am 4 1/2 years out and don't bring food back very often anymore. I think when it does happen it is because I made a poor food choice or waited to eat unti I was very hungry and didn't chew very well. I think though it was 18mos or longer before I didnt' bring food back fairly regularly. Meat and chicken were hard for me but I don't have problems with them now. I never had a stricture or any problems with my stoma but it is worth checking out with your surgeon - I believe those problems can be serious and need to be evaluated and treated. I know that when I bring food back it is always my own fault! dawn
Never dump or vomit. I have no limitations from my surgery...never have. My pouch was 2 oz to start and my stoma was made with the largest stoma hole punch. I have regained and am currently losing 35 lbs higher than my surgery weight though. I also never feel like I have eaten anything and have had tremendous ravenous appetite. I know my stoma was wide open before the Restore trial (which failed and they stopped the trial early). I assume my stoma is wide open now. I expected to be like you guys. I know it is uncomfortable to go through what you go through but look how well you are doing. I guess I really wish I was in your shoes. pax et bonum, Daisy
I am almost 2 1/2 years out and food gets stuck for me every now and then depending upon what I'm eating. I agree with what someone said about DENSE food. I have noticed it gives me trouble more than other things even though I've always been a slow eater and chew my food pretty thoroughly. And I've also noticed that it happens more if I'm really hungry which usually means I've gone a while without eating and my stomach seems to be a little "tight".
It can be annoying especially when I'm out at dinner with friends or in social settings! When I'm at home or even at work, it's no big deal. But recently, I had to give an acceptance speech (right after we had eaten) at an awards banquet being held for me and a piece of my chicken had gotten stuck and I wasn't able to leave the stage to high-tail it to the bathroom. UGGHH!! I was MISERABLE!!! The whole time I was standing at the podium, I was hoping and praying that chicken wouldn't come back up on its own!!!

I'm still getting stuff stuck too- I'll third the "dense" food or the fast eating. I am a silly butt and sometimes forget to eat until I'm hungry- then invariably I'll eat too fast and sometimes that'll come back up (I call it "Rejecting" as in "I rejected that burger"),Meats- especially steak (I miss steak) are my big issue foods, I have to eat them with extreame caution. I try not to have this happen- "rejecting" food is uncomfortable and embarrasing for me.
