Accountability - Sunday

Not the Same Dawn

I made up for the too much protein yesterday with way more carbs today. I made sure I got enough carbs today. I actually had a sandwich for lunch! Not my usual stuff but I bought a George Foreman Grill at a yardsale yesterday and had to try it out...not bad. And it was 100% whole wheat so I wasn't too worried. But then I had a roll made into garlic toast for dinner..that was a bit over the top, I think. Still, the calories aren't extremely bad..

Here's the list:

B: oatmeal, tvp, soy milk, strawberries (these are on sale this week, I may need another pound at the rate I'm going!)

2B: 2 fried eggs over a pile of home fries with bell peppers, onions and mushrooms with salsa and cheese. I figure I ate a cup of that.

L: Sandwich of roasted turkey breast meat, muenster cheese, slice of onion on whole wheat bread...grilled on the GFG...yummy.

D: pork spareribs (boiled first and then put on the grill) cucumber salad and a garlic roll.

I had five bottles of water and a half a wine cooler. Including the wine cooler the totals are:

Calories: 1870
Fat: 87.1
Carbs: 149.7
Protein: 111.7

Still, for a day off, not bad. I nearly forgot to include the wine cooler..Silly me. It's really easy to forget to include stuff. I have to be very careful.

How did you do today?
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Hi Kay:
I just looked at your pre op picture.  Wow have you come a long way!  I was 276 at my highest weight but I am only 5'3" tall.  I am shaking in my boots that I am heading back to that weight or higher.  I never told anyone I had the surgery so I can't really post pictures.  I know many people on this site and I just can't tell anyone I had the surgery.  Especially because I have done so poorly with weight loss.  I am no longer a diabetic though.  That is a huge accomplishment but the credit for that goes to my surgeon not to me.  I just wanted to commend you on your success.  Daisy

Thanks, Daisy. Congrats on your weight loss. I know for a fact you can get back on track and stay on track because I did.  Join WW or just find a good food plan that works for you and stick with it.
My biggest mistake at first when i was trying to loose that weight that I  gained was cutting wayyy back on calories. Yes, I would drop the weight fast but as soon as I starting "normal calories' (1200 calories) I would gain it back. As soon as I set a goal of the amount of calories, and carbs I was allowed, the weight came off and has stayed off.

Good luck, keep coming here and being accountable.. it works!  Thanks again for the compliments!

I am on WW and I am a lifetime member.  I eat over 5 servings of veges, take calcium citrate rather than the milk,  I need to eat 2 t of olive oil and a couple more points.  I have a great leader who has been with me for 34 years.  She doesn't know I did the RNY 2 years ago.  Right now I am just happy to be rid of my hunger.  I wonder if the carbs don't bother me more than a normal person because of the diabetes?  Daisy

Hey Daisy,

I just wanted to chime in and say, WoooWhooo ...I think you are doing great...I know a lot of post op people who highly advocate removing all the carbs except the ones found in veggies and milk products and seem to do really well on that plan...Sounds like it could be a good fit for you too...Maybe an occasional high fiber multi-grain product might be okay too...

It is only 4 days into this.  I am actually afraid to even try milk or whole grains because I did that and was always hungry.  I am going to try to do this for as long as possible...one day at a time.  Thanks so much for your encouragement.  Daisy

Happy June, and for those who live with me on the south east  coast - Welcome to Hurricane Season 2009

Dawn, I know you are going to love your GFG...DH & I bought a $20 panini press 2 years ago at X-mas, I swear, except the micro, the stove and my magic bullet its the most used appliance in my kitchen...We have some sort of panini sandwich at least once a week and alot more than that during the hot days of summer...

RECIPE *ALERT* I frequently use just the bottom of the bread for my "sandwiches" and put the meat as the top layer and put the salsas, tapenades, vegies, toppings, etc then cheese next to the bread so I can still melt it all together in a pressed format ( the top meat just gets a little crusty crunch, spritz with olive oil to help with the stick )...So many yummy variations, and I there are sooo many options for tapenades (food nextwork has some awesome recipies for these )...

Sunday was way better than Saturday, still to high on the carbs but not blasted out of the water like Saturday was...Today I'm on liquids until dinner, have my 4 yr check up with my RNY surgeon and plan to stop in to see my Nut for a hot minute too...

Pre-B :  1 slice crispy bacon

B - Starbucks triple venti sf nf choc and praline mocciato & 1.5 petite vanilla scones

S1 - 3 bites and a bit of shell from a DQ strawberry sundae bowl

S2 - .5 oz smoked turkey breast, .5 oz muenster & 2 sugar cookies ( the grocery grab gets me
          again  )

L - strawberry and banana protein shake

S - 1 prune, bite of homemade trail mix & 1 choc covered pecan

D - tilapia in a grill bag topped with thin sliced lemons, sweet  vidalia onions, fresh parsley and
a drizzle of EVOO with a squeeze of lemon juice ( Mmmm) 1/2 c stewed tomatoes
sweetened with a little splenda & a bite of herb buttered egg noodles ( used more of the
fresh parsley in these too )

Water/Crystal light - 85 oz                        Cals - 1108     Fat - 35     NetCarbs - 109     Protein - 85

Dinner was my best meal today, loaded with tasty, GOOD, choices...Weekends I really struggle to eat according to my food plan putting protein 1st at all times...I've said this before, but I got to keep repeat it to myself and others - @ this far out, it is too easy to let the weekends go and not be so compliant, I worry a little about this because I think it may be a precursor to losing control...

I need you all to be my food police, tell me when you see the weekends going really sideways...It's June 1st and by December 31st I want to be saying my scale reads under 130lbs consistantly all week long, the only way to do this is pick up the exercise a little and reign in the sideways slides...

Thanks for listening and being here as my support system...   Alesia   5'5"  134lbs
