Accountability - Thursday
Thursday...whew. This week feels like it's been 10 days long.
5:30 am 10 oz coffee w/NSA Swiss Miss
6:30 am 1/3 cup instant oatmeal, 1/4 cup fine granule TVP, 1 cup plain soy milk, 1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce
7:00 am 24 oz Drink Mix, Fruit Punch
9:15 am 1 medium apple, 1 oz mozzarella cheese stick (low fat)
9:45 am 24 oz Drink Mix, Orange
12:15 pm 1 chicken taco salad
1:15 pm 24 oz Drink Mix, Tangerine Caffeinated
1:50 pm 1 calcium citrate pill
3:10 pm 1/2 cup homemade coleslaw
4:00 pm 24 oz Drink Mix, Wild Strawberry
6:00 pm 1 cup homemade chili, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1 oz sour cream
We're taking the dog to the vet to get her shots...so we can go get her shaved. So I'm not done with this day yet...I may have some NSA ice cream later. That should add about 130 calories to this:
Calories: 1482
Fat: 57.0
Carbs: 142.2
Protein: 103.0
I have been thinking the most carbs I'm getting is in the morning and after that, it's all meat/protein stuff. That can't be all that good so rather than just live with those carbs in the morning and over compensating with protein later in the day, I'm going to add some good carbs to the afternoon (like the coleslaw) and see if I can make my menu more rounded. That and I left the turkey deli meat out all day long yesterday and have no more till this weekend when I get some more...I had only used 3 slices out of a 10 slice pack...Ouch.
How did you do?

You did really good for Thursday! I generally figure I'm good if I am about 1500 calories. I'm not sure why that works for me but I can maintain right there without much trouble. If I see 1400 in my total, I know I have room for a dessert..last night I had some of my sugar free chocolate cheese cake. There's tons left. LOL. no one liked it. ;-)
Your list looks awesome..Have a great Friday and have a nice weekend. I'm sure hoping the weather here is nice and not too hot.
See ya.

Your day started out good but after the sandwich, it went away. LOL. You know, things like that happen, especially when it's hectic. I do believe that your body begs for those carbs (bread) when you're busy and rushing around because it's ready energy for it.
Water I struggle with all weekend long. During the week it's easy because I log my food and times. I sit at my computer all day at work and send myself emails. Then I reply to those and keep track of the times better for when I can drink. I never drin****il 30 minutes after I'm done eating. During the week, water is easy. On the weekends, I'm not in front of the computer so I can't remember when I finished eating..
I think with rushing around all day and into the night, you did great. Keep up the good work. See ya.

I absolutely LOVE camping! When we first got married, we couldn't afford any other sort of vacation. Then we bought our property and had to, basically, camp out for several years with no power, no water...We didn't go camping too much during those times cuz it was no different than staying home. LOL> Now camping is again a pleasure.
Do you think fruit would help the crashes? I know fruit has high sugar but it also has a bit of fiber.
Keep after it. you'll find that happy medium.

Hi to all
, happy Friday !!
Had a pretty good day yesterday, ate light to save up for going out to dinner, had a good time...
Dawn, keep us posted on how the more rounded plan with higher carbs works out, I'm always leary of adding in carbs, for myself too many carbs, even the good ones translate into gain, but , my NUT has said all along in maintenance I should shoot for 40-50% of my day being good carbs, 30-35% good protein and the rest low fat choices...A bonus, the good carbs often mean increased fiber too which helps things move along ( always a problem for me, TMI?)
B - strawberry banana protein shake
S1 - homemade coffeehouse sytle drink
S2 - protein coffee
L - Oh yeah protein bar spread with 1 tbsp of pb
S - 1 bite size dk choc truffle
D - 2 hot wings with a little ranch dip, 1/2 order of shrimp-n-grits ( 5 shrimp, a little of the grits)
a small yeast roll
S - sm palm homemade trail mix...
Water/Crystal lite - 127 oz Cals - 1092 Fat - 57 NetCarbs - 56 Protein - 96
I'm out of town for the weekend, do not expect to have computer access, so will check back in Tuesday and see how I held up without my daily support scale weigh in

I'm thinking good carbs and the same level of activity and basically no increase in calories might be okay for me. I'm just going to lower my protein some. I have been reading about too many grams of protein because alot of people are told not to exceed certain levels...Just wondering about it because I wasn't given any limits on protein.. Actually, no limits at all. 30% protein is what is generally acceptable as the upper limit for protein but is that for us? I don't know.
I do know I don't want to add carbs just to add carbs. I mean I could eat donuts if that was the case LOL.
Your list looks good. Is there a reason you don't eat breakfast? I mean most everyone who posts doesn't eat a breakfast except for me...My problem is nearly half my carbs for the day are in that breakfast. LOL.
Have a great weekend. See you back on Tuesday!

DONUTS !
now there is a bad word, you can tell from my lists I can tolerate a little sugar without dumping, but could not even consider a single bite of donut, Krispy Kreme is DEFINATELY a trigger food...
You make logical sense about the carb changes, will be looking to see how if plays out for you...
On breakfast,...Just never really been a breakfast eater (pre surg IF I ate breakfast it was Capt Crunch or Poptarts, those are definately no-go now), so post surgery when I moved on from liquids I just continued to use the shake as my morning meal...Cereal, of any kind, with milk still makes me dump and I never liked oatmeal or hot breakfast cereals except grits loaded with butter , salt and cheese ( another no-go) sometimes I just have a protein loaded latte as a sub and on Sunday I might have a bite of the big breakfast I make my boys...If I feel like breakfast food I eat it for dinner...
Have a great weekend
