If you are proximal rny, I'd have started you on 6 + vit C.
2 was pretty close to nothing at all. Repliva is appx 150mg, or what I would've suggested originaly. If your Repliva vanishes (it's off the market), might want to try the Tenders at 6 + C, alone together for at least an hour, not with dairy, caffeine, egg, whole grains or any other vites, minerals or meds.
And in fact, since you continued to trend down, I think I'd keep ramping them up to 12 (taken at one time****il your iron and ferritin levels rise WELL into the safty zone, not just the bottom rung of "ok".
Just have to take enough of it. I don't offer less than 150mg to anyone except a pre-op

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
If your seeing an hematologist or whomever takes your blood they should be well aware if your stored iron is very low you can get IV iron infusions. I did this for one year and now I am not even taking iron at all and my iron is 151 prior to the IB infusion of Infed my iron was not readable -0. However I had issue with iron all my life due to Celiac Disease and was not aware the wheat and gluten was causing gut issue. I have since deleted them from my diet completely and that may be my answer but I would check out the ferritin. Allot of dr just do iron study and never check the stored iron which is where many problems lay. As for anemia, how was your hemoglobin? Are you taking B12 injection?
Current weight:120 and still 5'4
sometimes it's the type of iron/B12, sometimes it's the dose. Each person is a little different. We held B12 levels in the 4 digits for 6 yrs, then CRAAASH! Now we do weekly shots, as monthly or even 2 weeks didn't keep us in 4 digits.
We dinked around with rx irons, various OTC irons, sometimes taking as much as 1000mg ELEMENTAL iron from rx and OTC. We ended up on the 300mg Tender and have held steady levels for more than a decade now. Just takes awhile to find your own formula. But once you do, your issues is not FIXED. You've just found how to manage it.
I saw a woman yesterday whose rosacea had completely disfigured her face. Purple, crusty, thick scaly skin, making her eyes and lips appear to be inverted. It's not all about how it looks, but when it's thhat bad, the skin can crack and bleed, and infections result in the fissures. Some ppl say it's no big deal, it's vanity to treat it. I don't think so.
I use metroCREAM (metro gel dries it up too much) and an oral to keep mine under control. It's not perfect, but it beats a future of cracking and bleeding, right? Some ppl have better luck with newer topicals on the market, but they did nothing for me but top out my copay. LOL
Same with each nutrient we need. Although we can use historical data to start somewhere, you're own body will dictate your formula.
I have a radical distal RNY, more like DS. I take 50,000 IU dry D2 (OTC, not rx) every Other DAY. Don has a slightly less radical procedure, but he takes TWO of those every day and we get the same lab numbers. Individual. We both take 300mg Tender iron and we both get appx 90 for iron and 200-300 fr ferritin, have for many years, Go figure.

My name is Trish. I had my blood work done in the 6 months and it was ok. I have been tired in the afternoons after getting off work. I sit at a desk, not like I do manual labor. I usually have to take a nap for about 1/2 hr to 1 hr almost every day. Could my iron have gotten low? What amount are we to take if past mentapause?
Looking fora reply
thanks
