What a day. Five hours in the car. 2 and a half hours to Murietta and 2 and a half back. We ate out three times today. And I still managed to get in 5 + bottles of water. I may just have some ice cream in a bit but I dont' want to lay down right after..stomach still a bit bum.

List for the day:

B: oatmeal, tvp, soy milk, 3 large strawberries

2B: 3 eggs fried, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1-1/2 slices rye toast without the crust

S: protein meal replacement bar (I nearly forgot to include this!)

L: grilled chicken breast sandwhich with no bread, wrapped in lettuce with tomatoes

D: Jack in the Box Asian Chicken Salad. I didn't eat it all but counted it all.

Totals for the day:

Calories: 1433
Fat: 62.8
Carbs: 112.3
Protein: 142.8

Not too bad. Without the protein bar in the totals I might have had only 1223 calories. Those little things are surprising!

How did you do today? I didn't get hardly any exercise except walking at Walmart and 99 cents store..I found South Beach Living packets there...bought half of what they had!

Good Morning World

Its Sunday, and today I will truely have a day of rest, busy since Thursday with Harley events, last night closed it all out with a great band and lots of rock'n and roll'n, danced my feet off and I'm sure worked off a few calories too...My planning as far a food went for this whole event was lacking and it did not play well in how I felt at the end of each day, did not have a way to get access to a cooler, so could not keep any of my usual protein food choices nearby, including the bars because it was so hot they would just melt...Need to think of some alternative protein choices that do not need to be kept cool...Still all in all I survived the weekend and am glad to have a down day with my boys today

Dawn, I'm sorry your pouchie is still being grouchie, the burning sensation if it continues, you should get it checked out, could be something like an ulcer, that would not be a good thing to accerbate...Hope you feel better soon...

Saturdays food:

B - Starbucks sf nf triple choc & praline latte with 3oz added Oh Yeah liquid protein to bump it up

L - babybel cheese mini and 5 cheddar pretzel twists
& a lemon creme horn ( needed quick energy, could have chose better )

D - 4 oz crockpot pork and salsa topped with 1 oz shredded mexican cheese and 2 tbsp
       artichoke/garlic salsa

S - about 1/8 cup of honey roasted peanuts & 5 plum sweets ( when I got home from the band )

172 oz water/crystal lite/ fuze
Cals :  1167     Fat : 58     Carbs :  111     Prot :  59

Back to work and my regular schedule of eating, know I will be back on track ...

See Y'all later...Alesia  5'5"  134

Sounds like you had an awesome time. Protein choices that don't need to be kept cold? How about jerky..there are so many different versions (turkey, beef, bison, venison) and flavors (teriyaki, pepper, jamaican jerk). I think you'd get tired of it after three days but with everything else it might work...I have a favorite: Lowrey's Beef Jerky. It's 2 oz of jerky and has 21 grams of protein in each pack. I bought a TON of it on line just so I would have it cuz I can't find it locally. and protein bars. They get mushy in the heat but they might work. The peanuts are good. soy nuts or any nuts are good, especially with doing all sorts of stuff and using up the carbs in them..

With heat, I'm an expert, I guess. It's suppose to be 105 in bakersfield todays. Yikes.

Looks like you did pretty good. With all the activities I think the carbs were used up..

Keep up the good work...Have a great restful Sunday.

I agree with the protein bars.  I eat them when my blood sugar is under 60 because they have a lot of carbs in them (unless I have the low carb bars).  We did a ton of hiking so I just ate them all day today on the trail every time I started shaking.  We hiked to Stephen's falls (really pretty) and the lost canyon trail at Gov. Dodge state park.  Quite hilly and went forever!!!!!

S:soy bar
B: 1 1/2 c oatmeal, 1 oz walnuts and 1/4 c dried cherries
S:soy bar
L:2 oz cheddar cheese, 1 oz turkey, 10 reduced fat crackers(whole grain), tomato and lite yogurt
S:nsa cocoa
D:3 oz beef tenderloin, 1/2 c rice, 1/2 red pepper, sf pudding
S:sf cocoa, sf pudding, 1/2 soy bar,
2 c of skim milk in coffee during the day

tons of crystal lite while hiking.  Again around 2400 calories!!!!

You might bring a 1/4 cup of peanuts and some jerky rather than the soy bar...Some of those are only 10 grams of protein in them and that's just not enough. You need the carbs for the walking but if you don't have the protein to go with it, your sugar will just drop like a rock. I sometimes get shakey on dried fruit...lots of sugar in that.

If you add the protein to the carbs the carbs will give you a quick boost in blood sugar but the protein will bring the level up slowly and stay up long after the effects of the carbs are dropping out.

I have been a diabetic for over 30 years and my liver doesn't raise my blood sugar like a normal person any more.  Peanuts and jerky would not help my blood sugar crash.  I would be comatose if I did that.  I need the carbs and the protein in the protein bar to stablize my blood sugar.  I don't like the fat they put in them because it adds so many calories I don't need.  They are easier to carry with me than anything else though.  Jerky and dried fruit dehydrate me and I don't like to carry a lot of water along.  When I bike I take a water bottle with carbs and protein in it.  I should do that when I hike too I guess.  I could also have my 90 lb yellow lab carry some water for me!!!
