Amber,

You are not alone.  I m almost 4 years out and am dealing with thirty pounds plus 40 more I wanted to lose.

some suggestions whic I am going to start following
* go to support group, I hadn;'t gone for 2 months and went back last night, it was helpful

* get out and exercise at least three times a week. I am getting an adult three wheel trike for monther's day and my birthday, my balance is not great and I think this will help

*going back to basics, protein first, then veggies , then fruit  and lots of liquids

I hope this helps, keep posting on the graduate page and I will also.  The extra support will help us all.

Hi,

Same dilemma...I'm nearly 5 years out. Started at 207 - a lightweight I know - , got down to 104 (for about 4 days, but still!  ). So I lost roughly 50% of my total body weight. Stayed around 108-112 for about a year , then menopause hit. I creeped up to 120 over the next year. Then got a new job and stopped exercising regularly (I horseback rode). In the past 17 months I gained 17 pounds. I weighed 137. I did Fitday everyday and never got above 1,500 calories with most days between 1,200/1,300.

So, finally decided I had to do something. I don't want to get back to 108. At that weight, I literally have no butt and ended up with a lot of pain in my seatbone. So, I'm aiming for 112 - 116. I was going to do the 5-day but I just couldn't bring myself to do the all liquid days. I like chewing!!

So, I decided to go on Jenny Craig for 8 weeks. I had successfully done this plan in the past and have found the convenience really worked for my lifestyle. Why did I go this route? For me, the fiancial obligation means I'll follow through, the food tastes great and I can easily continue to monitor my protein etc. I started on Saturday and have dropped 2 pounds...although as we all know, 2 pounds at the start of program is easy water weight! Anyway, I'm going to give it 2 months to see if I can get control again.

I've also committed to 1/2 hour each day of exercise on my Wii. I wear leg braces so walking isn't an option. But hoping the exrecise will boost a menopausal metabolism.

Wish me luck!

I will soon be 4 years out. You can so totally do this. I can still loose weight at even this far out. Jus****ch what ya eating. I still dump from hell on sugar. Eat lots of plain veggies with nothing on them. It is getting time for all those good garden veggies. Plant a little garden and enjoy it. I am a very lonely person. If nobody is here to make me eat. I don't eat. You will be fine. If you need a friend send me a pm. Do you have a myspace?

You are definitely not alone.  I am 7 years out from surgery - never did reach my goal weight, but was comfortable in a size 14.  (I was a 34W before surgery).  I maintained my "low" weight until the last 18 months and now I have gained about 45 pounds.  I am trying to work on it, but with such a high stress level and NO support at home, I am really struggling.
I think that is one thing all successful people have is a good personal support program.  If the person you live with, are married to, or spend most of your time with is not supportive, it is an extremely difficult journey to take and any little thing can set you off the pace.
Good luck  and God Bless to all who are struggling and know there are others who are right there with you!

Dear Amber:

Believe me you're not alone on this.  I had my surgery in 2003 and reached my goal of 165lbs.  I gave birth in 2005 and that's when I started piling up. So now I am up to 208.   I feel that I am leaning toward where I was before and I am afraid to death. I am trying to get a revision this year. I tried so many diets and failed everytime so now I am looking forward to that revision.  I am hoping to meet with my surgeon to see if I qualify. I am already have shortness of breath already and get tired so easily, my asthma is also coming back, was hospitalized in January.  I know we can beat this if we try.
