Easter was great, but oh god I ate so much, carbs and sugar, sugar and more sugar. I keep saying I will get this out of my system today and get on the right track tomorow. But what is the right track. It seems everyday Im trying something diffrent, like I'm never satisfied. Looking for new diets. I feel like my old self.i had my surgery 5 yrs ago and gained 10lbs. How about all of you did you have a great surgar Easter?

I had to cut sugar out completely because I just can't eat alittle bit. So if you feel like you can't say no to something or just a little bit to something...that something is a problem.

10 pounds isn't that much, in the grand scheme of things but if it bothers you..then you should try and just make your serving sizes smaller...just alittle or cut out one thing...or just increase your water. Just do one thing and see how that goes for a couple of weeks. Diets aren't that successful but lifestyle changes that last are the sorts of changes that can make a big difference.

Good luck!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I find it best to plan for atypical eating.  So my easter went something like this

Breakfast:
1 hard boiled egg

Lunch (the party meal)
Ham, mashed potato, sweet potato, green bean casserole, chips, dip, cheese tray, chocolates, jelly beans, etc.

Supper
Another hard boiled egg

What I find is that keeping the other meals small and high in protein helps even out the otherwise bad eating and, calorically, I stay on or only slightly over target.  Another key is to keep in mind that Easter was yesterday and the party does not extend to today and it is back to eating as usual.

In the end, one day or one meal cannot destroy any weight loss.

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post as I am new to this site.  So far I think it's a great site.  I also have gained weigh.  I had my surgery 12/13/2001.  I lost a total of 130 pounds and I have gained back 40 pounds.  I am sick about this and now feel very depressed.  I know what I need to do but can't seem to get motivated.  I feel like such a failure.

I'm sorry to hear you ,that much weight back , but you have to get in the groove. get yourself checked out an go back to the basic, protine and water, make sure you eat your protein first then everything else. don't drink after or with your meals. if you need to snack grab cheese or peanutbutter or yogart . give it a try

Everyone there is working on some re-gained weight (some just a little; some, a lot), and there are a couple different accountability threads every day.

I am in almost the exact same situation you're in.

Always,

It's weird but I rarely crave sweets.  I do get in my bored eating habit but tend to choose salty stuff.  No, I don't have the best eating habits but I am trying to eat healthy.  I'd like to get back into smoothies this summer.  As far as old habits, you may want to journal those times and see if you find a pattern.  Sometimes there are triggers that cause us to make wrong choices.  You may want to see a nutritionist and he/she can give you some guidelines for healthy eating.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

I think the main thing you should do is to DECARB your body.  No sugars, no breads, rice, potatoes, etc.  That will curb the cravings.  Do you not dump on all that sugar?  Doesn't it make you feel bad?  I think 5 years and a gain of 10 lbs. is not bad at all, BUT it could be the beginning of a very rocky road for you.

I'm three years post-op and eat no sugars, grains, potatoes, etc.  I'm trying not to ever go back there again.

Good luck,
Linda
