cramping/fistual
Hello My Fellow OH'ers
Had my RNY Nov 04 and then tummy tuck in summer 06. Last year found out I have a fistual three of them actually, I was completed transected but I still have three connections back to the old stomach..I have gained 15lbs these past 8 months or so and feel terrible, But I don't eat well and I know it, I am often hungry and want carbs...same ole same ole...ugh
My question is this, lately I have been getting what I would compare to a charlie horse type cramp in my lower left abdomen it is below and to the left of my belly button, I have no idea what it could be, but it is not like a diarreah cramp or menstrual cramp I can acutally feel that part of my body get very hard and it hurts and then it goes away with in a few minutes.
Anyone had the same thing or any insight?
Happy Easter!

Melissa, have you talked to the DR that did your original surgery. To me being "completely transected" means the pouch and stomach are not even touching each other, not that there was just 2 rows of staples. That's how fistulas happen. Can they fix it?
As far as the cramping, are your BM's regular? Thinking possible obstruction??? Or just one of those weird feelings we get every now and then.
Good luck

Hello,
Mr RNY dr said I was completely transected and that I was the first of his 5000 patients he had ever seen to get a fistula....he said it can be fixed but he has never done one post RNY so he is not sure what kind of recovery time, or if the procedure can be done laproscopically etc....I have an appt to see a dr on May 13th hopefull they can tell me what the cramping is all about hopefully it is just one of those things, lol.
Thanks
