Am I a grad?
Hi everyone
I don't know if I would consider myself a grad, most days I feel like I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I had my surgery a year ago on April 1st and have reached my goal of 145. I am scared to death of the next part of the journey "maintenance". I never had to maintain. I lost weight then gained it back plus some more so I was dieting again.
I go to the DR and then NUT next week and I know they're going to tell me to at more calories and that scares me to death. How did you deal with having to eat more, Do you eat constantly to get the calories in.
Thanks
Doreen

Join the club...It's a scary thing we have never done! I've always either been dieting or bingeing...So maintenance was a foreign language to me.
Whatever suggestions your DR and NUT give you, keep in mind that this isn't a cookie cutter journey. It's individual. One person may have a trigger food like chips or salty snacks and another may have trigger foods like sugar (like me) but whatever the trigger food is, you have to identify it and decide what you are going to do about it. It's trial and error on the calories and such. Now it's just about all mental.
Welcome to the Maintenance Bench! We're there for you.
Edited to add: I just added protein and good carbs, a bit at a time till I found the sweet spot (or maybe my sweet spot, not sure but it's adjustable). I also plan out snacks inbetween the regular meals but each snack and meal centers around protein first and then fruits and veggies THEN any white or grain carbs like pasta or rice or potatoes.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
