I've started walking.  Prior to this, I really wasn't doing any consistent exercising.  I definitely can tell an improvement in my health.  Fortunately, I still don't experience hunger.  I'm grateful for that.  My question is:  Anyone out there who faced similar cir****tance?  What did you do to accomplish your wt loss goals?  I'm 5'9" & 258.  I've already lost over 250 lbs.  Is my body just rebelling?  What is a good calorie goal to accomplish this type of wt loss?  In the past, prior to surgery, I very effectively used low carb dieting/South Beach Style phase 1 to achieve rapid massive wt loss.  Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
Thanx!!

I'll chime in here. Not because I have the same issues but I've seen and heard of people with those issues...

Congrats on the walking. Walking is THE best form of exercise and it's reasonably easy to get it going at your own pace...It's about the only exercise I don't fight against...I HATE exercise but walking is fun (especially when you're shopping..LOL)

It is harder further out to lose weight because your system is adjusting to the surgery and trying to find a work around to it. Your body got used to being obese and it wants to maintain the status quo...Yup, fighting it.

The thing when you're further out is keeping at it. It takes time, lots of time, doing the SAME thing for a long time...: low carb/high protein and exercise (yuk) but it's very doable..

I really stand in awe of your losing 250 pounds..That's AMAZING! What a great job you've done.

I always suggest journaling your food intake to see where you are and planning on where you need to go..And I highly recommend (lately) the "It aint over till the thin lady sings" book by Michelle Ritchie...very informative for after surgery and food addictions..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Before Surgery: 214
Highest Weight: 240
Now: 125.6
Goal: 130

Here is what I did to lose:

800 calories per day, 50% of calories from protein.
Walk 30-40 mins every day

If you don't experience hunger, the 100 remaining pounds shouldn't be too hard because you can limit eating to meal time.  AKA no hunger snacking.

I think 250 is a huge accomplishment and something you should be proud of..
Pushing yourself will only make you sick and then crazy.
When you relax about the whole thing it will work itself out.. Our bodies have a way of telling us they are tired and need a rest.. .. just stay the track and it will fall in line and back to loosing..
Stay true to protein and keep on walking..
Remember.. slow and steady won the race.
