I hope everyone had a great St.Patty's day! I was busy at work. My day nurse had stroke symptoms so we had to get her to the ED and I had to take over her shift ujntil the next nurse came in. I did not get to the gym as I took the day nurse home after she was released; no stroke but something is not right she will follow up with her provider. I took her home and went to the store to get her dinner and then visited with her for awhile; no family near and her best friend is out of town.
B-high fiber oatmeal
S-poke cake
L-from the cafeteria corned beef, 2 new potatoes and cabbage-YUM!!!
S-sf cookie
S-baked cheetos
D-teriyaki chicken and salad-YUM!!!
Not enough water but close and all my vitamins etcc..Too many carbs and not enough protein I may have a protein drink with strawberries before bed .

You get gym points for working a double shift...And you get bff points for the kindness you showed to the day nurse...That's really nice of you...GOOD JOB!

You had some carbs (cake, cookie, cheetos) but since you were working basically a double shift, you needed them..

I figure if I have a busy day I either have to shove the water down or pick at some carbs to keep my energy up. Sometimes the caffien just has to do for me or I'm falling asleep. I was falling asleep yesterday (Tuesday) at a computer class I was taking. I even had caffiene with me and drank it all but it didn't help...sagging eyelids..

So I went to bed at 8 pm last night and slept till 5:30 am...9 hours sleep...I needed it.

Keep up the good work..See ya!

I went to post what I ate yesterday and the spreadsheet I save it on is gone so I don't have my list.  I have been trying to increase my intake to slow my weight loss but it isn't working.  It is so strange to see my weight loss increase when I eat more.  Yesterday I literally was eating or drinking for every waking hour and managed to get in about 1950 calories.  In the past 9 days I am down 3 more lbs.  I am only exercising 4 days a week and don't want to go less than that because I don't want to lose my motivation.  I am starting bad habits again in order to eat more and it scares me that at some point my weight loss will stop and I will start to gain again.  I have been so restrictive with carbs, especially refined carbs, and too much fat that I didn't realize that I really do dump if I get too much.  Found that out yesterday when I allowed myself whipped cream and drizzle on my SB light frappucino.  Anyway, I am almost 11 months out and have now lost ~1/2 of my initial body weight with a BMI of 22.  At 47 I feel that my weight is too low and I am really showing it in my face (won't discuss the saggy body).  Does the skin and fat distribution change over time after the weight loss and improve the appearance at all?  Shelli

At 11 months out, you probably aren't done yet. What does your surgeon say about your goal?

You see, for all my life I was told that I had a large frame. Big boned...I didn't find out until I got down to 146 that my surgeon's goal for me was 125. 125? That sounded impossibly skinny to me. With big bones? Guess what? I don't have a large frame. I'm NOT big boned. I happen to have a very small frame. Who knew? Certainly not me!

Don't worry too much about getting down below your goal or looking too thin. The body will rebound. I bought pants when I got down to 125 and they no longer fit. I only weigh 128! The body dials it in pretty well.

dh says he's noticed that once you get down to goal and level off to maintain, the exercise brings your shape back..

Thanks for responding.  My surgeon felt I would get down to about 130 lbs.  I too thought I had a large frame until the weight started coming off and everyone now says I am quite petitie.  Nice word huh?  I'm trying not to worry.  I think I am actually more worried about the rebound weight gain.  I am so scared of gaining weight.

I actually like to exercise now.  Jogging/walking more than weight training but I do look forward to it.  I know the more active I am the more likely I will be to maintain my weight.  I just hope that the body fat distribution changes and I get a little shape back.  I like the thought of 125 lbs as long as I dont look bad.  I am seeing some bagginess around the sides of my mouth.  I know that at 47 some of that is normal.  My whole adult like has been spent so grossly overweight that now I want to look good.  Didn't really care about what I looked like before.

Will post my food and calories later tonight. thanks.  Shelli

That's me in a nut shell. I had the surgery when I was 47 years old and my thought was because my dad had a heart attack at 49...I wanted to get that behind me.

When I was fat I thought I looked like my mom alittle. Now that I'm 50 and skinny, I have to admit I look more like my dad's mom...Boney fingers and all!

I finally have come to terms with my weight. I was so afraid to invest in new clothes. At about 8 months out I bought three pairs of size 10 pants. Soon they were too big. I got into a size 8 and then down to a size 6. I actually bought a pair of size 2 jeans. They fit for a while, when I was the lowest weight but when the re-distribution happened...they were too small. I've been buying clothes at American Way or Goodwill because they don't cost me so much when my shape changes.

So I have been afraid to buy new clothes. Just two days ago I bought four brand new dresses..A major milestone for me because they're winter dresses. They will have to fit till next winter. I guess I feel like I'll be this weight at least till winter. LOL.

Hi Shelli,

I reached surgeons goal @ 13 months out and kept loosing for 4 months trying to work out  my "maintenance" program, was at a BMI of 20 by then and thought I was never going to stop...Slowly found my comfort zone on eating and my range is still pretty wide, fluctuating in a range of 1200 - 1800 a day ...Put back on about 15 lbs from my lowest but am still 10 lbs under my surgery lowest weight goal, my bottom low was way to low for me ( I'm 43 and bones were sticking out EVERYWHERE)...MY BMI now ranges in the 22-23 range, at almost 4 years I've settled into the new me comfortablely...As for how the body redistributes, it will take awhile, I can still  comfortably wear all the clothes I bought at my lowest and I am definately higher on the scale, but exercise and time resettled my WHOLE body and I do not look so boney anymore, especially in my face and chest ( was showing ALL those breast bone bumps at my lowest, now I just have nice collar bones not a boney chest too)...I can tell you @ close to 3 years out is when I found I had to lower my calorie range again, from 13- 36 months I was often eating in excess of 2000 a day with little fluctuation...

Good Luck, its a constant journey...
