Wow I don't know how you got so much in.  I had surg. (RNY) Dec.31,08 and was told to wait 30min before I eat and don't drink for 30min after.  It is really hard for me to get my water (or any drink ) in.  I was also told no caffeine it can cause ulcers.

Yes, early out it's very hard to get in your water. But nearly 3 years post op, you learn that you can drink up to when you start eating. You'll notice that I post the times when I begin drinking and the times when I end eating. I go at least 30 minutes after I eat before I begin to drink. Sometimes if it's dense protein it takes longer for me to feel comfortable drinking. I regulate myself in regards to dense protein. I have to. You have to learn to listen to your body...The first year is a learning experience in all of us.

Yes, I do drink coffee and caffeinated drinks. I don't have any issues with ulcers (from the upper endoscopy pre-surgery) and have been drinking coffee for a long time (since I was 12). I did quit drinking coffee and caffeine for a year after surgery...quit cold turkey...but the surgeon told me not to count any caffeinated beverages as my water so I don't. I even drink extra water to make up for the effect that it has.

Great I'm glad to hear that.  I do miss my coffee, decaf is just not the same.  I have learned to live without pop.  I have lost 50lbs since surg and 30 lbs before.  It really is a learning process.  Thanks for your info.
