Vitamins...How much and when to take them?

Hi fellow grads. I am curious as to what kind of vitamins you all take and when you take them. I am aware that certain ones can't be taken with others and some should be.

I have so many chewables I have to eat a day, it's a bit cumbersome to say the least. Can we take pills now instead of chewing all day? he he

I get the Baratric Advantage line of vitamins, and some others. Currently I take 3 chewable Calciums, 2 chewable multis, 1 sublingual B-12, 1 chewable iron PLUS I swallow a Folic Acid, a biotin, and an extra Iron supplement a day. WHEW! I have to divy them all up and take them in doses allllllll daaaaaaaay.

What do you guys do?

I take a ton & have divided them up pretty much into 3 meals and 1 snack.  Then, of course, there is the 2x/day I have to take iron with no food for 45 mins. before and after.  Oh, and the copper that has to be taken no less than 30 minutes before or after the others I take.

So I guess you can see you're not alone.  It's a juggling act all day for me, too.

BTW, most people I know stopped chewables after the first month or so.  You might want to check with your surgeon.

I have a lap band so I don't think we have to take quite as many vitamins as you RNY'ers.  I just take a Centrum Silver Chewable every day.  That's what my DH takes, too.  Works for us.

As I eat my breakfast I have my sublingual B-12 (100), after breakfast (RIGHT after) 1 Calcium Citrate, 1 Biotin, 1 Omega 3 Fish Oil. Later in the morning with a snack I have a chewable Calcium Citrate. With Lunch I have 3 Children's Chewable Multi Vitamins. Then with another snack in the afternoon, the last chewable Calcium Citrate..

That's what I do.

The reason I take the first ones right after I eat is because they are BIG and they'll get so stuck if the food is on top of them..And the food stops them from running out of the pouch quick and they'll get dissolved better. I tend to over think things...

LOL!!! Me too! What do you think about the liquid vitamins Dave uses? Do you know of anyone else who uses them?

I suppose liquid vitamins have their uses...I think chewables are okay for me..Easier to find at my local Walmart too. So long as my labs come back fine, I'm good with that. I compare my labs to the last ones I had taken and if I have a dip at all, even within the normal ranges, I'm changing up my routine...I want high normals on all the levels (except the bad ones, lol) but we all have to do what it takes and we're all different people.

I know of people who insist that you can't get all your protein in unless you drink protein shakes. I get mine in but everyone is different. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT...Your mileage may differ.
