Help... That is all I can say... I am 2.5 years post op and I have gained 40 pounds of the original 140 I lost. I am feeling lousy both physically and mentally and need some motivation. I am trying not to beat myself up so much, but it is hard.. my eating habits have spiraled out of control and I am not sure if I can get back to "feeling" my pouch.... Anyone do the 5 day pouch test ?
Any suggestions/comments/advice would be most appreciated.
Thank you.

You can do a search for the 5 day pouch test. I'm sure it's posted here. do that! It helps.
Don't despair...You can get back to where you want to be. My suggestion is to journal your food before you change any eating habits and see what you are consuming too much of and work on getting those things under control. We're human and we all fall...They operated on our middle and not our heads so you're in good company..
Work on exercise or just moving around more. I have a wii fit and I want to get on it more (once a week is NOT enough) and that's fun...but I walk a bit at work and on the weekends. Park further from the store..you know the tricks.
Good luck to you.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

When I first had my surgery, my surgeon told me I should always choose low carb foods if I had a choice between high and low carb, for ex: we can buy low carb bread, or use regular white bread, but which one is better? The same with any low carb or low calorie foods or drinks. Artificial sweetner is better for me than sugar, I choose Sf desserts 90% of the time, if I eat any.
When I was trying to lose the weight, those choices made a big difference. Are you drinking sugar drinks? Are you eating sweets? Do you fry a lot of food, or eat fast food? For some people fat isn't a problem causing weight gain, but if it puts weight on you, you have to reduce the amount.
I'm not saying diet, but you have to find foods that taste great, and will help you lose the weight. Fruit juice is sugar, many other fruits become sugar in the body. Pasta, potatoes, white bread, and breakfast cereal are all carbs you can do without. Potato chips, cookies and any other sweets need to be out of your house.
If I am having trouble sticking with the plan, I just make myself eat my protein first, whatever I like, cooked in the tastiest way I can. Then I eat other foods, but at least I can't eat as much, since I had plenty of protein first. This is a habit that we get out of too soon after surgery. Also drinking right before meals, during meals, and right after meals. Try not to do this, you'll stay full longer.
I'm not sure feeling full is the best goal, if you've been eating large portions, it may be hard to get " full" and lose the weight again. You probably need to start measuring what you eat and see exactly what you're eating and how much. Then you can take control easier.
This is something we have to pay attention to for life, or we will end up right back where we were.
