Bradycardia (low heart rate) post RNY???
I had my RNY surgery in October of 2004 and also have been told I have bradycarda. I have been to three cardiologists over the past seven years. the first told me he would like to put me on beta blockers, however due to my low blood pressure they would not be able to. I wanted a second opinion so I went to the second cardiologist who did a one month halter. He said my condition required no medication and until symptoms worsened I need not worry. Diagnosis bradycardia, and right bundle branch blockage. This past year I went to another cardiologist after an emergency room visit, she told me my heart was fine and did not see any problem. Many tests were performed included a bubble test? She did recommend I carry a copy of my "Irregular" ECG with me in the event of an emergency. Anyway, my biggest problem is after eating either sweet items or high fat items, my heart feels like it is going to beat out of my chest. My body pulses with it and sometimes I feel sick, almost like dumping syndrome. I do worry because I know this is working my heart putting pressure on it. I am not sure what to do because the last cardiologist I saw said my heart was fine. So long story short, yes...I have been told I had a problem then told I did not, I don't know what to do about it. As for any weight regain, My doctor who was the best said he would like for me to stay around 150 pounds. I have gone over that to 175 over the past 8 years. I know it is up to me to make changes, at almost 54 years of age, no thyroid and lack of exercise it is tough. Hopefully I can find out what is going on with my heart and move forward.
hi my name is dominica, I had the RNY 09/2014. I have been having dizzy spells, lightheaded and loss of vision. I was diagnosed with bradycardia( not sure how to spell) I get a month long heart monitor on the 13th of January. The cardiologist in the ER mentioned a pacemaker. I have been trying so hard not to think about that. I am 33 and it scars me, but the no energy, and add to that low sugar and low blood pressue that I know have also. I am scared.
Hi.
I'm post RNY May, 2023. In April 24 I went to my Dr with elevated BP. And slowed heart rate. Sent to the ER ad I was or had been having a heart attack. My heart rate was 46.
Felt ok, except I thought I pulled my shoulder rowing.
Well. No. That's just where I was feeling my heart pain. We women can be weird that way.
Had a Cath, they did a stent. 95% LAD occlusion. ( Blocked widow maker)
Afterwards, doing ok. Still some scapular chest pains ( we have to be careful to mention chest) but my heart rate drops to the 30s and low 40s when I. At rest
I will get a holter monitor this week. From what I understand not uncommon after massive weight loss and also possibly something with the vagus nerve.
So you are not alone .I'm glad you found the problem befit became more serious. In doing cardiac rehab, and that's very helpful.
Ironically enough, it was just on Tuesday, September 8th that I FINALLY was told that I definately DO NOT need a pacemaker. Even then, it was a bit back and forth.
Based on my heart rate alone, it's low and they would recommend a pacemaker.
HOWEVER, back in August my cardiologist had me do a stress test, and in approx. 9 minutes, I was able to get my heart rate up to about 153 or higher.
Since I CAN elevate my heart rate through exercise, that's what I've been told to do. Someone *****ally needs a pacemaker, is not able to elevate their heart rate this way.
SO... I was told to exercise (which we all know I should be doing anyway!) and to come back for a check in a year, just to keep an eye on things.
Of course, if I am to experience any more passing out and/or severe dizziness, then I need to get back to the cardio doc to have it checked out.
I wish you the best... I dodged the bullet this time... and one of these days I will get back to exercising! :)
