Iron update!

The infusion worked. I feel so much better. I have the labs to back me up.

My ferritin went from a 6 in December to 99. My iron saturation increased from 10% to 24%.

I will have my yearly labs in April. If I am maintaining my iron levels I won't have to go back to the hematologist until October.

Wonderful news!

Now that you've had the infusion, how much iron do you have to take each day?

I take iron carbonyl 100mg to 150 mg  depending the time of the month. I split it into 50 mg doses and add some vitamin C to it.

Glad to hear the infusion helped!  Nothing is worse than how we feel when our iron is tanking.  I'm getting my labs drawn later this week and am curious as to how my levels are holding up.  Wish me luck!

What are the signs of your iron being low?

The main sign is fatique. Mine crept up on me. I didn't realize how tired I was until I found out about my ferritin being a one. Then I conservatively tried to raise my levels for 8 months.

Now that my levels are appropriate and I feel normal again I realize just how crummy I was feeling.

Thanks! I am always tired and the only vitamin i don't take regularly is iron because it's so hard on my stomach..
