Help! I need a kick in the butt!

So here I sit a month shy of 8 years out.....I've gained about 20-25 pounds over the course of this time.  Which isn't bad considering I lost about 150# to start with (Lap Roux-n-Y, 3/28/01).   I went over 50, so my body is going thru hormonal changes, that gives me an excuse to use for a bit of the mire I'm in  I have a major carb craving most of he time now....I can eat anything I want and don't get sick,  I eat more now than during the first few years of course, not alot, I still get full very easily.  But I find myself eating quickly, eating alot of carbs....  I know what I have to do, I just need a little support again to get me back on the the right track.  I'm going to do the 5 day pouch starting this Wednesday to get the carbs out of my system.  I've done it before...it works like a charm, but.....once I start eating more again at the end.....I just build on that and end up in the same place.  The weather has been crappy and I haven't gotten out in walked like I need to, I lay on the couch and watch TV and then go to work, come home and do it all over again.  As far as the hormonal age related changes....if I go to my new GYN anyone have an idea of what I can and can't take with my stomach? I have to change docs as I just moved.   I've been really careful to not take more than Tylenol based medicine and one water pill for slightly high blood pressure my doc prescribed.  Alot of docs aren't familiar with GB patients, the phisiology of how we are after we have the surgery, many times I've got to educate non-bariatric docs more than I care to.

So here I am kick me!  I want to feel good again by summer.... go ahead and tell me what I know you're going to say....I just need to hear it!    Thanks!

Well here it is........a good kick in the butt. I can relate to the carb problem, I have been having a daily battle with myself over those darn carbs. But as you probably know eating those simple carbs (white flour, sugar, white potatos, crackers, chips ect) only make you crave them more.

So we both need to cut those out of our diet. Hopefully the weather will improve and you can get out and start walking again that will improve your outlook along with burning some calories and give a boost to your metabolism.

Sorry no advice about the hormone issues, I was fortunate and never had any problems going through "The Change".

Congrat's on almost 8 years post RNY, it sounds like you know what to do and by seeking out  support here, you are on your way to getting back on track.

Take care

I think you've done great to have kept practically all of your weight off after 8 years. I hope I can do that well (I'm a little more than 2.5 years out). I've been putting on a pound here and there, and now it's added up to something like 10 pounds. So today is my new beginning. I guess it'll be a lifelong battle. It does help to post here and get encouragement from others.
