Need info on "Set Weight"
Need some help from some grads more than a year out. What is your "set weight" that you are maintaining. I am 10 months post op today, 5'4 and down to 132 from 242 preop. Was 142 before beginning of December. Maintained it without effort for 3 weeks over the holidays and thought it was "done." Thrilled and much better than the 242 I started at. Then bam the scale started dropping again mid January. It dropped to 132 this am. Never thought I would ever get t
his low. Thinking 130 is the lowest I want to go and that upping the carbs will stop it then.
How far out are you?
How tall are you?
Whats your "set weight"?
Any thoughts?

Hello, My stats are almost exactly like yours and I am 2 years out. I, too, am 5'4" on a good day, and I started at 236. By one year out I was down to 98 lbs and feeling scared. I lost until the 1 year mark. I got back up to 105 and stayed there a year. Since Christmas, I have gained 5 more lbs, putting me at 110. I am happy here. I thought that anything under 130 would be too low for me, but my body feels really good at 110, and I don't look anerexioc. Don't worry if it goes down some more, in fact, it probably will. But you will gain back at the 2 year point like everyone says, so be glad for the bounce back room. enjoy the ride and congrats on the success. D
I am 5'4" to and I feel the same way you are. I am only 5 months out getting a little scared of stopping not too scared but a little. First goal is to be at 140 which will make my BMI 24.9 normal but the most I want to lose is 135 lbs. Thanks for asking this question.

I am 18 months out i've gone from 291 to 124. i'm 5'2 and 36 years old. I do look like a skeleton with droopy skin. My legs are terrible. I will be in dress's at the beach and river this year. My face is so thin. but I panick if I have any weight gain. I thought my ideal weight was half of my starting weight..SO i was going to be content at 145. but I'm 21 lbs under that. I still lose weight every month, at 18 months out.
I am amazed at people who only lose 80 -100 lbs and i've lost 167 with lil effort.

137 puts me at a normal BMI..Yippee
If I were you, I wouldn't up carbs at 130. When you hit your low point, you may stay there easily over time, but if you up the carbs you open a door to eating too many carbs and weight gain. I would hang on a while since you are early out, and see how things go, even if you continue to drop a few more pounds. You will most likely level out at a " set weight" and remain there.
I'm at 140 from 286. I maintain easily, but I still limit carbs. I'm 3 yrs and 7 months out.

I waited till the surgeon told me to "eat more" and then started playing at maintaining...I increased my calories, always keeping protein the highest...Occasionally I have high carbs but they are good carbs and not white carbs (fruits and not bread, veggies and not chips). And not sugar because I don't want to even let that back into my life.
My goal weight was 125. I dipped to 122 at 11 months and dropped to 117 for a day (because of bout with depression, all work related) but I'm maintaining right around 127 to 130. Today I weighed 127.4... Acceptable.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I never corrected the too lows. It corrects itself. If YOU correct your low, remember, you get 15# back free. Where do you want to be when the 15# come back?
Any thoughts?
************ never correct a momentary underweight unless you are very ill. I was kinda ill (inner ear) when I lost down to 101. Once the problem was fixed, I was back to my 112 in a coupla weeks. Had I tried to correct it, I'd have been at least 10# over and had a carb addiction to beat.
I'm low now. I know better than to use carbs. Once they get in me, they're so insidious, I'll have to move heaven and earth to get off the carbs again. I'll settle for kids' pants right now. My 4's are waiting for me to come back as soon as the problem that's making me not eat is gone. (stress)

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
I'm 2+ years out
5'5
Currently tettering at about 145
I've only gone lower by about 10 pounds, and mainly when I'm sick. I don't work out nearly enough, however my body feels healthy here so I'm not stressing too much.
However, lately instead of my 5 pound yo-yo of up to 150 then back down I've been going up to 146 then down to 140. I will admit that I'm hoping this is the beginning of a slight weight loss, contemplating replacing some of the carbohydrates (even though 80% are "good" carbs) with more protien- just to see what happens. However my family may be moving soon- so I'm waiting until after August to push anything too hard. I'm happy as long as I'm maintaining and not getting above 150. If it gets above 150 I know I'm not doing something right.
