Don't ya' wish...

Sorry fellas, this is a question that probably won't matter to you all that much...

Don't you wish someone would come out with a post WLS clothing line? I know...we can wear regular clothes now, right? But.... I can't afford plastics, not a chance, and my built in airbags (wings, landing flaps, whatever else you want to call them) are my one confidence crusher when it comes to summer clothes. I so wish for stylish tops with sleeves that are either loose or come to the elbow, but truly fashionable, not matronly!

I agree! I would love to wear a spagetti strap top but my wings prevent me. I think mine are realllly big. Its even hard to find a tee-shirt. "the perfect tee" all have short sleeves!

Back in the day when I'd complain about my shape and lack of clothes...My grandmother signed me up for home ec class and taught me how to sew..LOL. But I do feel your pain.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

At 47 I just say the HELL with it and wear what ever I want. Tank tops and shorts in the summer and if they don't like seeing the bat wings and wrinkled skin on my legs TOUGH!!!!!!! I live 3 houses form the pool and I would realy LOVE to have a nice tank suit but at long as they keep making the ones with skirts or shorts I'm in business.
Until I win the lottery no PS for me.
Good Luck,
Robin

I find that Chico's has a lot of stretchy shirts with 3/4 length sleeves. They are not cheap but have good sales. i even buy them on 1/2 price Wednesdays at the Salvation Army!

I wear a lot of light mid sleeve "Shrugs" - or when I'm feeling interesting a pair of tights cut at the leg and trimmed to cover my "flaps" I've made multiple arm cover things and am constantly complimented on them- asked where I got them etc.

No Kidding??!!! I would LOVE to see the legging-shrugs! What a clever idea! Do you have any pics you could share with us and maybe slightly more detailed instructions? I love the whole artsy-chic look!

Here's the only pic I have in my collection of existing photos of one set of "arm warmers" - this is the cheater version. I also love taking old sweaters/ long sleeve shirts from thrift stores that are super soft and worn- usually a little stained in the front and cutting them into shrugs I cut them High in the back- just enough in the front to hold on to when you pull it on- or little flaps to tie together then toss on a simple seam.  I'm also learning to crochet so I can make spiderweb soft simple arm covers. It gets so hot here so I need something light that'll look good and still be wearable.   I'll take pictures of some of my other creations and post 'em here soon.

'cause I said I would.  I apoligise for my bad hair/lack of makeup.  I also apologise for the visable bra- I am a lazy girl.
The shrug line up:
Red one I made from a sweater:

Green one I made myself:

and my hand crocheted one that's more just something I wear when I'm feeling goofy:

I like to dress up, and at 40-something, love the splash of fun and funk these shrugs offer, all in addition to the cover-factor! LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And you look gorgeous in them, makeu*****t!
