Hi, I am still trying to get back on track, but honestly i don't feel too off track. Yet, i am 20 lbs heavier then my all time low after WLS. I have increased my exercise. i need to work on my water.... I eat pretty healthy most days.. but someting just ain't right, because i am not dropping weight. So i was wondering about WW. Any feedback?
Peace and Blessings, Melinda

Hi Melinda,

I am presently trying WW and it seems to be a really easy plan for WLS people to follow..
allthough.. the allowance of carbs is just insane.. in the quantie so you have to watch that..
but healthy habits are definitely reinforced.
I like have to stay true to that scale everyweek.. I guess I needed that..
for me although I'd like to start loosing again.. staying at what I am and feeling healthier has been my reward.
Give it a try.. what harm could it do..

Hey,
My lowest is 182 and I got off track and gained up to 207. My dr suggested WW and I joined in Sept. I am now back at 182 and maintaining that. I think they are great! Weighing in once a week really keeps me focused and the support is awesome! When I joined, I lost 11 lbs my first week.

Good luck with getting back on track!

Love, love, love Weigh****chers.  Knowing that you have to weigh-in each week in front of the receptionist that you now know well (whose been on the same journey and is weighing in too), being in the meeting room for support from people who become your "friends", having a good group leader, writing every single thing you eat or taste down in your journal, being aware of portion size and label contents, weighing foods on a scale, using measuring tools, seeing your weight written down in your little book by someone other than yourself etc. HELPS so much.  You have to be accountable right there in front of yourself and everyone else - with WW you are no longer doing it in the dark.  It's amazing especially when you find the right meetings and leaders.

Best,
Leila

I joined WW 2 weeks ago and have lost . I am still focusing on my protien through the point system. I like the accountability every week and the leader is very supportive to me. I told her about my WLS and she is willing to help me an any way that she can.

I joined WW with a friend in January and it's been GREAT.  I've lost something every week, although not as fast as I'd like!  It's true that I'm not exactly following the 'rules' of my surgery but I'm eating better and the weight is coming back off.

I'm making small changes that I can live with - like light sour cream, cheese, and butter vs full fat.  I believe I can do this and get back to my lowest weight.  I'd never done WW before and it's enough of a mind game for me that it's working.  When I figure the points of something, I don't think about how much I want that particular food - I think 'I'm not using THAT many of my daily points for that food!"  So I don't feel deprived at all so far!

Good luck to you!

It's been quite awhile since I've been back here (eep!), but I've been lurking the past month, and thankfully so.

I've read many posts about wls grads using WW to either get back on track or just need some help with nutrition and food amounts.  A few years ago, I did not think it was an option for wls grads to go to WW since our diets are a bit different with what we require nutritionally.  Thankfully, after reading the success many of wls grads have had using WW as another tool, it is an option.

With this, last night, after much thought, I decided, what could it hurt to try the free trial they are offering?  Just to see how it can benefit my diet, outlook, goal and motivation.  I did sign up just for the free trial.  My eyes have been opened!  I did not realize that even as a post op grad, that even a small amount of something "bad" can really put you behind in your "Points", definitely hits home.  I am not sure my pocket book can afford WW, but I'm gonna give it a week and see how it goes.  But so far so good!!  I'm impressed!

I joined 2 weeks ago.  Did fine my 1st week (lost a few pounds), but just didn't follow it my 2nd week.  I've gained again.  It's certainly not the fault od WW, I just need to get serious.  I think it's a good plan, but I only get 21 points and I got hungry.  I'm thinking 2 days of just protein shakes to start might shrink my stomach.  Yhen I'll start over.

Hi Jjm, I completely understand, I had 22 points, and I got obessed with food during that time, it wasn't pretty and I was cranky making sure I was staying exactly within those  "points" but came to a realization, the points for food are calculated by calories, fat and daily fiber..... this is great for those who may not need to worry about protein levels, but for us wls post-ops..this may not be ideal.  It hit me when I noticed that the higher protein items have much higher points values...so my points windled away quickly it seemed....and I ended up hungry.   I didn't continue the free trial after that first week.

Since then, I have definitely focused on balancing protein and lowering carbs, and working hard to up my exercise (this is a struggle due to some rather severe health issues that have arisen, but I'm still gonna fight as hard as I can through them.)

I think for us post-ops it's gets kinda scary when we can start eating just a bit more than we could 6 - 8 months earlier.  Studies have shown this is normal (some more severe stretching of our pouches are from continuous over eating) but the pouch does do a normal bit of stretching; holding about a 1 - 1.5 cups of food.  It's just a bit scary though to know we can eat more as time passes on.   I have experienced this, and with very limited activity... it's just been a physical and emotional struggle.

I know we can do this, and we will succeed!  keep your head up Jjm!

Keep us posted!!
