Hi Gang,
Well sometimes do you think people are just sitting back, waiting for you to "gain your weight back"? ....Oh yeah, some of them are. What's keeping you a success? Finally coming to terms with your life and reaching for your own goals? Success to us may be different, it may be your off all  your medications, you can cross your legs, go for a walk, having that energy to play with your children or grandchildren.

I say prove them all wrong, keep that motivation going. Have challenging hobbies, exercise and eat healthy. Embrace your life-style change, we are not on a diet, we have made a lifestyle change. For me exercise is a must, I know I have to exercise and it makes me feel better. Most days I look forward to going to the gym, it helps me because I have my exercise buddies. Heck yeah, I do have those days that I just have to make myself go to the gym, but in the end I'm glad I go, it gets my stress out. Bonus!! Exercise equals stress reliver...Whhhhhhooooooooo!

Be sure to be kind to yourself. Life is hard for many right now with unemployment, winter blahs. We all need each other. Hang in there and find that motivation to make your day better.

There is a semi-famous WLS celebrity that is marketing a "lifestyle" that once told me that I would fail.  The reason was that my choice of eating normal portions of any food did not fit with their lifestyle of denial and substitute comfort foods.

I still assert that foods are not good or bad, it is our relationship with food that is messed up.  jlmartin quote #3 is "A lot of this job is mental" and if you can master the addiction then you no longer need to fear food.

In living this way, I try and do the following:
Eat real food.  I would much rather eat one REAL cookie instead of a dozen Sugar Free cookies.  Keep in mind it is your inner addict that wants you to eat a dozen cookies; and, using a SF substitute merely masks the real issue.

Eat like a normal person.  On Tuesdays it is convient to get a fast food supper.  I had a Hamburger Happy meal no drink (480 calories).  Fries are not inherently evil and a "normal person" is not going to eat a Double Quarter Pounder, Super Size Fry, Shake, and two extra Big Macs.

Obviously, YMMV

Amen jlmartin!
I eat normal foods and really don't deny myself anything. I have learned moderation. I don't fear foods. I do have an "addictive personality" and have chosen exercise as my "transfer addiction" before I even had surgery. It's very freeing when you don't fear food. That you can take a piece of candy or one cookie and stop. WLS has been the right choice for  me!

You have a great day and I loved your response.

Debbiejean, thank you for posting this.  For years in my old job, people were doing exactly that, Waiting for me to fail, and it kept my motivation going, it truly did.  Now that I've changed jobs, I do not have that "pressure"  it's weird.  I have let go a little bit more (not to mention having a nasty back problem that has crept up) and it shows, with a slight gain of 5 pounds over a few months.
I have found motivation again after hearing about a friend who has gone through a second heart attack relating to her weight.  Her first heart attack got me so scared that it prompted me to call my doctor about having RNY surgery in the first place!!!  Talk about EYE OPENER!!!!!

I made a promise to myself almost 4 years ago that I am not going to die young and I am going to live. I'm NOT going to break that promise to myself.

Thank you Debbiejean for the reminder!!!!!!
