I know for me it is carb related.  I have this as long as I am following a very low carbohydrate diet. I just take my time getting up  and most of the time I am ok. However, if I am out in the sun and get overheated down I go!

I am seeing an endocrinologist. They want to do some tests and make sure it's not something serious.
I just take my time getting up also for now. ugh.

I have been suffering with this problem since 1 week post op. I have seen an Endocrinologist, Cardilogist. Neurologist and have had numerous test and they still don't know what it is. My feet and legs go numb and the pressue is really low and drops even lower upon standing. I have lost 120 pounds in 9 months, I just hope and pray one day it will go away. The Cardiolgist prescribed  Midodrene it is small orange pill 3 times aday and that gives me little relief but it wears off quick. It raises your BP so when you stand up in is normal.  Good luck and be careful.

I am seeing an endocrinologist also. I had me take a basic blood test, that came back all normal. He wants me to take a ACTH test. Where they give me something in my blood, then at 30 and 60 minutes take my blood out. He, too, says there's nothing to be done, jus****ch it when i stand up. I lost the bulk of my weight in less than a year, about 200 pounds. The doctors all say it's my body adjusting to my new volume. I sure hope so.

Good luck with your ACTH test I was suppose to have a repeat one of those but never got a chance to get it. I just had an MRA of the brain it is like an MRI but studies the blood vessels from the neck up to see if there is a blockage or loss.   Let me know how you make out with your test and what they find. I never went back form my repeat one, because the doctor told me the ACTH will rule out if you have an adrenal gland issue and he thought if I had it I would have had alot of complications with the surgery and I did not.  I am going to put you on my friends list and if you get a chance I would love to keep in touch with you. Just send me a PM.

I have been really sick since last April.  They sent me all around running up lot med bills for test and insinuated I had depression.  But I knew better.  Finally they found I had POTS.  They have put me on disability at work and I am filing for Soc. Sec. Disability.  They have been playing with medicines for awhile.  I barely leave my house and passout when I bend or look up.  The migraines, cognitive impairment, and fatigue are horrible.   I had spinal injuries as well and don't know if this is from my Gastric Bypass or spinal injuries.  I wish there was a study of how many gastric bypass patients have this.  If you want to learn more about OH you should check out www.potsplace.com .  It has been helpful for me. (I don't think my cardiologist has to deal with it much).  I would love to talk more with someone who is experiencing this.

The doctors spent a while of insinuating I only had stress, but I kept pushing.  My cardiologist  sent me to another cardiologist to test for some kind of syncope that I didn't have.  They gave me a tilt table test.  During the test, the other cardiologist discovered the POTS and sent the info to my doctor.  There are other tests, but that is the main.Though most doctors aren't familiar with disautonomia, which POTS is a type.  So my doctor really knows little about it.  You need to research it and not just trust most doctors.  There are lots of informative videos on utube about it as well.  Good luck getting help.
