Keys for Motivation and Positive Thinking
Hi Gang,
Happy Thursday! Are you up and at em??
Did water aerobics yesterday and worked out with 3 pds weights holding them during the workout just for me, my own challenge. Then the instructor at the end gave the rest of the class weights so I changed my weights from 3 pds to 5 pds. More challenge! Whew! My arms are thanking me today! LOL!
Here's your very own recipe for 2009, take what works for you, and toss the other suggestions away. Make it your own "recipe" for motivation and happiness. Choose to be happy.
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day, while you walk smile, someone make be checking you out and that smile may make them smile.
2. Sit in silence for 10 minutes each day. Talk to God or whomever you get guidance from.
3. When you wake up every morning complete the following statement, "My purpose is to ____ today. I am thankful for ____"
4. Drink green tea and plent of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds and walnuts. (Just eat healthy!)
5. Try to make at least 3 people smile today
6. Don't waste precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
7. Life isn't fair but it's good (at times that is hard for us to comprehend)
8. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
9. Don't take yourself too seriously. No one else does. (How true!)
10. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present. (Very good advice)
12. Don't compare your life or weightloss with others. You have no idea what their journey is about.
13. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
14. Frame every so called disaster with these words "In five years will this matter?"
15. Forgive everyone and especially yourself
16. What people think of you is none of your business (you can control others thinking!)
17. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
18. Your job won't take care of you when your sick, your friends will, stay in touch.
19. Envy is a waste of time, you already have all you need.
20. Each night before you go to bed say to yourself "I am thankful for ___. Today I accomplished___"
So gang if you are still reading this, may this help you in some way. Hopefully you can use some or all these suggestions. Times are tough in this world today. We can't make it paycheck to paycheck, people are out of work. I know, I'm living it right now. My husband is a mason and there is no work right now in Michigan, we are living with joy in our hearts still. His daughter and 2 kids moved in with us. We don't go out for entertainment, we are back to the old days of playing cards, dancing at home, having friends over, taking walks. Lifestyle changed for me not only because of WLS but going through a depression. It's not a recession, it's a depression! Still I choose to be happy and look forward to changes to come. Embrace life. Exercise helps me get though and lifts my spirtis.
