How to get back on track
Hi-
I'm coming up on Surgiversary #3 and my struggle to maintain began about a year ago. If you read my history, I actually got down to 121lbs which was about 10lbs too low for my age- I looked like a walking skeleton. My PCP told me to regain 10lbs at least...so of course I regained almost 20lbs! I have maintained this new weight for 6 months. Today's weight was 139lbs and I'm shooting to lower it to 130lbs.
Now, having told you all this, I will tell you that I go to WW every week faithfully and have since I hit 150lbs, I journal my food (even if I know I've gone way past the "points allowed" for that day!) and I try to limit snacking. I have stopped the No Drinking While Eating step, and I think that's been a mistake for me, so I'm going back to that right now. My biggest issue is Night Snacking- try as hard as I can to ignore the Head Hunger every evening...sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't.
I did hear of a weight website on the radio this morning. It's a calculator that uses your height, weight, age and activity level along with the amount of lbs you want to lose by a ceratin date to tell you what your daily caloric intake should be throughout the losing period of time...very interesting! Go to http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-r equired/
Good Luck!
I checked out that web site. It says for me to eat 2600 cal. OH MY I can't do that. I freak out if I eat more than 1200 plus I think my matabolism is broke.lol. but to eat that much I know I would gain wt. I'm 179 now & thats the highest since RNY. I think my matabolism got messed up at the beginning of this journey when we ate so little. It went into starvation mode & it won't start again.
I would love to say it happens to everyone, but I took such pride in the fact a hovered around my low for so long... I was so proud that I had gotten rid of all the close I had shrunk out of... which has been a big motivator for me. You see I have one pair of PMS jeans and one Pair of PMS work pants... and since that's all I can fit in to at this point I am refusing to buy the next size up. I got back on track with a daily work out... albeit light compared to what I was doing a year ago... and I have been logging every single calorie that goes into my yap, on fitday.com... which if you are interested in graphing your success and being accountable... is a great sight... they have a free on line food log that is spectacular.
I was amazed to see after all this time I really was consuming a crap load of calories grazing at night while watching TV with my husband... while having a glass or two of wine... and well it seems I got what I paid for... So I am back on the wagon... the calorie counting wagon, and my pouch is still working cause it still fills up fast, makes me sneeze if I eat to fast, so it is a helpful tool, I just have to stop with the grazing at night.
I made my husband put the good TV down in the Basement this past weekend... so that we would watch TV farther from the kitchen... So far its been helpful.
GOOD LUCK... jump back on the wagon with us and we will see our lows again hopefully soon!
