How many eggs per day?

I'm doing much better with getting back to basics...focusing on protein, cutting way down on refined carbs/sugars, getting in my water, etc.

I've started eating hard boiled eggs on a fairly consistent basis...averging 1-2 eggs per day, although some days none at all.  6-8 eggs per week probably.

It's been a while since I've seen my nutritionist, so I'm wondering...

Do you think it's safe to eat 1-2 eggs per day, on average?  They are a great source of protein, they are filling, and yummy!

Since surgery, Eggs are my favorite food! I seriously could eat scrambled for breakfast, an omlette for lunch and a boiled egg for a snack.  I've heard that we have to be careful because of high cholesterol.  A nutritionist told me 2 is fine, 3 should be the limit. I just had an egg convo with a nutritionist about an hour ago so it's funny to see this post.

PS: I've had 3 today!

Yay! This is great news! Thanks for letting me know!  I would like to eat 2 per day, every day. But I've been trying not to, fearing I'd be overdoing it. But they have REALLY helped me get back on track.  My protein is back to where it should be.  I credit eating a lot of tuna, as well.  Tuna and eggs are foods I love, so when I started getting those back into my diet, I stopped eating so much junk and I'm starting to loose a little weight again.

Early out I tried hard boiled eggs and they didn't do well with me. But I see no reason you can't have as many as you like. I have two or three a day on the weekends with fried or omelets..
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

One or two eggs per day are fine, esepcially if they are REAL eggs.   There is a notion that eggs can increase cholesterol in humans (because eggs have cholesterol) but this is being disproven.

I would stay away from industrial "egg product" like Egg Beaters.  While the package says it is 100% egg (true) the package doesn't tell you the eggs were de-hydrated and then re-hydrated which oxidizes the cholesterol and (in my opinion) ruins a lot of the nutrition value in the egg.

If you ARE going to eat eggs, see if a local farm sells eggs from chickens that have been allowed to forage, eat grubs, and otherwise eat and live like a normal chicken.  I'm suspicious of eggs from chickens raised on an industrial food diet as I've never seen yolks as golden yellow from the grocery store as I've seen in the farm eggs.

The only downside to farm eggs is they aren't machine sized so you get Xlarge, large, small, etc.
