I've heard alot of feedback that it helps to gets you back into control. Some people don't really understand the control issues and are in control or believe they are enough. I do understand it because losing your comfort in food causes a hole in your comfort zone.

I've fasted for a day to get control back. It's more a mental reset for me even though I haven't needed the pouch reset test yet.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I've heard it works to remind you of your pouch and its size, but doesn't work long term.  You will go back to old habits again.  And I refuse to do anything that is "diet" related again.  Follow the program and you will rediscover your pouch.  Remember, this was a lifestyle change and you need to change your life style.  This is just another quicky diet and the plan doctors don't tell you about it so I'm sure it isn't an approved method of maintaining.

Just my $.02 worth.

I think it is stupid too. I know many use it to get back in control...but those pounds you lose while you are on it will come back when you resume eating regular foods. When I am teetering out of control, what I find helps me is to go back to measuring food out and cutting back on carbs.

Hi Corgi Mom,
Are you having problems controlling your hunger right now?
I don't agree with the 5 day pouch test or diet. That's now how we eat as graduates.
Feel the need to "get in touch with your pouch" again?
Eat dense protein first then fresh veggies and fruits. We do need carbs for brain power.

More important is exercising. We have to move to lose. Are you stress eating? If yes, time to have a tough talk with yourself. You can get back on track, you know you can!

Keep posting, nothing is stupid if you have concerns and need some help. Most people here will encourage you and remember we are not on diets anymore, we had a life-style change and that also includes exercise.

Follow the rules again, no drinking with your meals ever! Eat for only 20 minutes max, don't drink for an hour after eating. Eat dense protein, not slider foods.

Good luck, now take that cute dog for a walk!

It is scary when we have been on the wagon of losing weight.
Try not to freak out about the weight gain.
Really weight gain is normal and it may just be your body adjusting itself.
Look at what you have been eating and if you are not eating enough calories you body is hanging on to everything you put in your mouth. If you are under calories...it's saying dang, I gotta hold on to this. You may need to INCREASE your calories.

If you are exercising, you just may need more calories.
None of us want to gain weight back (unless we indeed lose too much weight and need to gain)
Really the key is calories in/calories out.

Are you going to any bariatric support group meetings?
They are so important for us and you will find you are not alone.

Hi Debbiejean, It's so good to have a friend that actually repley back, it is so important to keep in touch ,because we are all in this thing together. It can get hard sometime,I thank God that I have lost the weight.I started at 378lbs now I weigh231 and won't move. I want to lose more I feel like I'm failing by the wieght gain.thank you for the encouraging words. One thing against me is that I'm in a wheel chair. And can"t exercise the way I want.  I praying to get out of it soon.
