Keeping Graduates Motived!
Hey gang,
Let 2009 be the best year for you, keep excercising and enjoy life to your fullest.
Sorry I haven't been on here for awhile, life is on the fast lane for me but I'm enjoying every minute of it.
I got married Dec. 28th to my soulmate, best friend and lover! The marriage ceremony was very spiritual and meaningful. We got married after church, we did fellowship first and fed the congreation then went back upstairs and had the ceremony. Everyone was relaxed and there was no stress.
Now for keeping motivated for our graduates...how are you doing? Is this weather getting you down? It's very cold here in Michigan. At work I've been going for walks, taking the stairs up to the eight floor and back down a couple of times a day. I'm still going to the gym, doing water aerobics and weight lifting class, cardio body sculpting class and spin class. I like to vary my workout sessions. I never get bored with my workout classes. I do better in a class with an instructor because they push me more.
I'm at goal, a size 8 now. I only weigh myself once a week to make sure I'm maintaining. Eating at night sometimes is a problem. It's mindless eating, I'm aware of what I'm doing...it's so easy to fall back into old habits. I'm very involved with 2 bariatric support groups and they both meet my needs. One is more on "head issues" the other is run by a Surgery nurse who had bariatric training for support. He is more into education and exercise.
So let's challenge ourselves right now! Are you exercising? Can't afford a gym? Well get off the couch and exercise at home. Sounds so easy doesn't it. Well it's not, I know that. Your body will thank you in the long run. Every journey because as you all know this is for the rest of your life on earth. Our journey's are all different, never compare yourself to others. Set your own goals. If you have regained weight, get that weight off this year and if it takes you longer that's okay too. Look at taking those extra pounds off slowly, only 5 pds. at a time. Then take time to reward yourself, not with food but with a bubblebath, pedicure or visiting a friend.
Good Health in this New Year, make good habits to enhance your lifestyle. Take a dance class. Join a group that will uplift you. Find something you are passionate about.

Sounds like you are doing great with staying on track and what an inspiration. Keep up the great job you are doing
The cold we are experiencing is a night mare, it's 16 below right now and that isn't the wind chill
Glad you are back!!!

Good morning!
Congrats on your marriage!
No, not motivated. I am pretty much by myself up here in the boonies. We are planning on getting a support group going in February up at the hospital so I am hoping this will motivate me to be a good example to the others who come. So, right now, I am in a bunk and feel really not motivated for much. Don't have money for the gym at the moment or my dance classes. I am hoping to pick that up once finances get better, but that shouldn't keep me from practicing!! Anyway, I am hopeful I will pull out of this bunk soon!

Hang in there shoutjoy! Winter is so hard, we miss the sunshine.
We are not in a resession here in Michigan we are in a depression. People everywhere are watching how they are spending their money. We are very careful on what we choose to do for entertainment. It's getting back to the old days when you have people over to your house and play games again. Turn the negative into a positive.
I remember as a child we would dance in our living room to music. Push back that furniture and dance people!! Get off that couch!
Got some old Richard Simmon's tapes? Time to dance with the oldies. You don't need a Wii Fit, heck we have that crazy Richard to listen to.
Anyone still in the dumps after reading all our responses????
Try to go visit the elderly in the nursing homes. They love visitors. Read to them, hold their hand, ask them about how life was for them. Old people love to tell you about their families.
If you have children, bring them in for a visit, especially you young mom's out there. You can adopt them for your children if their grandparents are out of state or don't live by you.
Good luck shoutjoy on starting up a support group in your area. Build off your support group. Get people's email address and phone numbers. Meet somewhere as small community groups to support each other. Maybe someone lives close by you and you will have workout buddies!
