Anyone with a Gastric Fistula?

So I just found out for sure that I have a gastric fistula which has prevented me from ever getting to goal and to gain some weight back! I have done some research on it, but not a lot out there. Has anyone had one after sometime. I am four years out from my surgery and just want to know what to expect from the repair. I know my surgeon will tell me but I want to hear first hand from someone like me... if there is one. Did they do a revision or just repair the fistula? Thanks in advance for any help!!

  Wow, sorry I have never heard of that but I am definitley interested to hear what that is exactly especially because you are four years out of surgery.  I am four years out too last month.  Hope you do alright and I am sure someone on here will know something.  This is a great place to get information.  Good luck Susie T.

What is a gastric fistula?  I have never reached goal. Have had several hernias and still have this unexplained pain on the left side where my old tummy would be.  Except ever CT test I have shows nothing.   What test would show that?

A gastric fistula is where the pouch and stomach are joined again. Basically the fistula is like a bridge from the pouch to the old stomach thus allowing you to eat small amounts, but to be hungry all the time, and not just head hunger! It is basically like the RNY was reversed and you never had the surgery. The test which showed mine was an upper GI. You drink this nasty stuff and the radiologist does a series of images to see where the liquid went. In my case it went into my pouch and my old stomach, which obviously shouldn't be happening. Hope this helps!!
