Hello, My name is Danielle and I was wondering if you folks might be able to help me. I had a VSG in April of 2007 and got pregnant 6 months later. The pregnancy went fine besides loosing a ton more weight and hardly being able to keep food down for most of the time.  3 months post partum I have developed numbness and tingling in my hands and feet and sometimes I have really bad pain in my spine with zappy feelings in my back. My muscles feel weak sometimes and twitch a lot.  I feel overwhelmed with depression and sometimes have full blown panic attacks. I am afraid I am dying.  The soles of my feet and my hands turn bright red and feel so numb sometimes.  I lost the tastebuds on half of my tongue (They grew back in a week) and get white patches inside my right cheek (Like I bit my cheek while chewing).  I get a rash on my arms when I carry something. Not like a raised bumpy rash, but a rash like under my skin, blotchy red. It goes away in a few minutes. I wake up at night in a panic and have a hard time going back to sleep. I get dizzy when I first stand up and I get constipated a lot.(sorry, TMI) Also my hands and feet get cold a lot. I am losing hair like crazy. I have dry skin and chapped lips chronically. My hands shake a lot too. Sorry this is so scatterbrained sounding, that is just how my brain is lately. I have three children, only one was born post VSG. I read that weight loss surgery can sometimes bring Fibromyalgia on in patients. Did I doom myself? Or does this sound like something else?

The only thing I have been told is I may be deficient in some vitamins. I admit I have eaten not good since surgery and I havenot take a vitamin regularly since surgery. Any feedback is so appreciated!!!

Thank you!

I have had MRI's on mt brain and neck. I have seen a neuro and Chiropractor.  MRI's were normal, only one small cyst that doc was not concerned about.

Sounds like you need to have some blood test run and see what your low in.   It also sounds like you might need some anit depressents.  Alot of people need meds to help control panic attacks and depression.  Only YOU know your body keep bugging your PCP and WLS doc till you get to the bottom of what is wrong.
Good Luck,
Robin

It sounds like you are deficient in several vitamins!  PLEASE don't let this continue without getting labs NOW...Vitamin deficiencies can cause irreversible damage...Do not wait for an appointment either...Tell them you need to be seen NOW...and get all your vitamins and blood CBC's, Lipid panel, thyroid and all!

I had vit defs last year this time...and I had many of your symptoms...I was anemic and had several vit defs all at once!  It took me 6 months to get out of it all and feel better!  I was lucky!  Doc told me I could have had a heart attack or brain damage  or worse if I waited much longer!

Read about magnesium deficiencies...I get them on and off constantly...I must supplement magnesium all the time...Many of your symtoms sound like my mag troubles!  You have several I never had too!  And I was def in magnesium, zinc, iron, A,D, E and selenium and had a thyroid malfunction too! ALL at once!  It seems once one def starts...all goes downhill! Please go get labs!

Your post is like a breath of life saving air to me right now!!!! I sm SO scared I might have MS or some other awful disease that has a lot of the same symptoms I have. I spend hours on the internet looking my symptoms up and all these dreadful things like MS and Lupus  and Rhumatoid Arthritis and Kawasaki disease com up. It is TERRIFYING!!!!!

I am taing some supplements but have not noticed a decrease in my symptoms but it has only been about a week and a half I have been on this vitamin.  It really takes a long time? Oh bless you for responding, I feel like I am losing my mind with fear.

MS and the others have alot of similar symptoms to vitamin deficiencies.

Some rashes can also indicate Celiac Disease too but having MS and Celiac in my family, quite close, I can tell you, it's more than likely vitamin deficiency. You should get it checked AND start taking your vitamins seriously!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

You must be scared!  My goodness woman!  HUGS!  When my defs started, I had no idea because while I had many of your symptoms, they came on gradually and mildly at first that it was easy to ignore or play off as maybe I am peri-menopausal...or just old age...I still felt ok , just sluggish and forgetful...foggyheaded....but the panic attacks and muscle spasms really really bothered me...but I have had them so long and my Dad has magnesium defs too all the time...so I just took magnesium when I felt weird and out of breath...I'd take deep sighs that people actually began commenting on my sighing...Asking me if I was out of breath...

One other vit I hope hope hope you are taking is a VIT B-12 sublingual!  You have many B-12 symptoms! That is one I was always really good on...but so many of the symptoms are interchangeable with other defs!

I really don't want to guess what could be wrong, because I REALLY want you to go get labs to be certain! Please don't shrug it off and just start taking vits...Go get tests, okay?  GOOD!  Vitalady is AWESOME!  She's one (of several here) that urged me to go get labs...and then gave me suggestions for vit supps...I was amazed at how much you have to take to get out of a deficiency and how long it takes...I was almost afraid to take so many vits...but she was so right and as I began to trust her more and more...I got better and faster! I did my own research to double check what I could...because that's just me!  LOL I can't go blindly into trust...I gotta know what I'm in for and check it myself!  By the time I knew what vits I wanted to take...she had everything I needed at her website in all the right forms of vits I wanted and the doses and all!  She's on the ball that lady!  She keeps me straight too when I get confused!  (I still do that with no vit defs! ADD, I think!)  LOL

Be healthy!  I hope you have an appointment for labs by now!

This does not sound like fibro.  While I'm not a doctor, it's sounds like vitamins deficiencies to me.  GET YOUR LABS DRAWN PRONTO!  I had the opposite problem.  I had too much B6 and had all sorts of neurologic symptoms.  Since stopping the B complex, most of those are gone.

Danille, I am in agreement with the others, get your labs drawn NOW, a full set of labs.  Vitalady has a great list of suggested labs.  I'm not sure if she is around right now but if you are interested in the list, send me a PM with your email address and I can forward it to you.

My mind is clicking off your symptoms and I'm concerned for you.  Don't let this wait, you definitely want to correct your symptoms before some possibly become irreversable.
