Trouble Sleeping?

Hello!

I am five years post op and haven't posted in a long time but I didn't know who else to ask about this.  I have trouble sleeping through the night.  I often wake up at 1 in the morning and am wide awake for several hours.  Sometimes I feel hungry other times not.  Just wondering if anyone else experiences this and if this could be related to the gastric bypass in anyway.

Thanks for your input!!

Jennifer

All the time!  My Doc says it's an age thing, not sure if I agree with him.  I know a lot of us have sleep problems.

Not the best solution I know, but I take Ambien.  Yes, I occasionally have amnesia episodes.  I'm rather proud of myself, the last one I had I ate a protein bar!  There was still a lot of junk in the house then too.  I've decided that for me, the sleep is more important than the side effects.

I hate to say this and I cannot believe I am suggesting something I heard on Oprha but have you had your Thyroid checked lately..
Thyroid can sometimes lead to sleep and hunger issues.

Don't flame me for being an Oprha watcher.. I just am ..  I'll do it myself

Jennifer, I am in awe how many of us have trouble sleeping.  It seems that it's wide spread; so yea I think it's related to WLS somehow.  I hope that eventually they will do a study on WLS and sleeping issues.

I don't always sleep thru the night but I have fibromyalgia and I think some of mine is pain.  But then again could be because I don't have as much padding!

Thanks everyone for your input.  I am happy to know that I am not alone in this.  I may consider trying some Tylenol PM or something similar.

I have had the same trouble...If I eat a little fruit before bed...that helps...( little complex carbs) Also magnesium helps me sleep...but I have had so much trouble with magnesium that I might just be magnesium-deficient-phobic! LOL  But it does relax /calm the body and help you sleep!

Good luck!

OMG I too have trouble sleeping.  I will fall asleep for a few hours at night and usually wake up around 1 and have to watch tv for a little while before falling back to sleep.  I too find that I am hungry during my early morning episodes.  I wonder if this could be a side effect from the surgery since so many of us have the same problem.  I never even thought it could be until I read this thread!
