joined a health club today, back on track in 2009
Today my husband and I joined a new health club in the area. He is supporting me in my effort to get back on track ,lose the 20 pounds I have regained and get back into my size 10 pants before summer. Tomarrow morning I start out with water arobics at 9:00, then on tuesday I have my orientation to learn how to use all the machines. Im going to take it easy the first couple weeks as to not hurt myself or get burned out. I was thinking about the 5 day pouch test but think Ill just go back to basics, cut out the carbs and up my water intake and see how it goes. Im almost 3 years out and to be honest never thought I would be over weight again but here I am. My husband cant believe how much I can eat and how often. I started gaining at about 18 months out and havent stopped. Hope everyone elses new years resolutions go good, lets help each other, Deb
I hear you! I am also a 3 years out, stalled in my weight loss and decided to "Get Back on Track" for 2009. Be accountable, post, blog, etc.
I did the 5 day pouch test and it worked great for me. It brought back focus on my food choices, my pouch, etc. If you want more information, go to my profile.
I also started exercising today, bought a Wii fit this morning. BTW -- it is a blast!
Agree, let's help each other out. Ann

Cheers to you for getting 2009 started out right and getting back on track! And cheers to your husband for supporting you in this. You'll both be healthier for it. Congrats!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

After two years of going to the YMCA, I really hate this time of year. From now until mid-February the place is packed with this year's batch of Temps. No offense, but I thought I would put together a few thoughts on how to surprise the "regulars" at your Gym who are counting the days until you stop coming.
1) First and foremost: you are not going to the Gym to lose 20 pounds. Just like eating, the changes you make need to be life long and permanent. Keep thinking in terms of "can I do this indefinitely" and "can I maintain this schedule forever" For me, I have maintained a schedule of 2 days a week strength training and 2 days of cardio.
2) Everyone falls in love with the idea of excercising this time of year. The problem is that excercise is hard work; it makes you a little sore and you feel a exhausted afterward. I tend to think of excercise as a necessary evil (like brushing your teeth and folding laundry). After 100 or so seessions it will finally be a part of your life.
3) I found this and thought is was funny too: http://sheldoncomics.com/archive/070318.html
Just remember: if water aerobics and weightlifting 1 day a week is a schedule you can maintain forever, then, it is perfect.
