pain pain go away!
I will be 3 years out in Jan. For about the last year (year and a half) I have had off and on intense pain in my upper stomach area. It feels like a burning, stabbing, charlie horse about 2-3 inches above my belly button to the left. (just a little below my left boobie) The pain last from 1 hour to nearly all day. It is quite random and can hit any time day or night. It feels like if I could burp really hard, it would help, but I can not get anything moving. I have tried gas x, OTC anti acids like zantac and tums. Nothing seems to work. I have my 3 year check up with my surgeon next month. He knows about this problem, and said that if it continues he will look into it. Should I keep on putting up with it, or should I insist that they look into it. My fear is that it is just trapped gas and I would be so embarrased if they told me I was full of it!!!!
Has anyone had this kind of pain? I really am tired of feeling crapy!
Thanks
Cathy

Thanks
Cathy

Pancreatitis? No, I havent gave it a thought. What are some of the problems that could happen with it?
gb issues? I had my gall bladder removed 20 years ago.
I am so tired of feeling bad, but I do not like to "whine" and complain to my doctor.... I know, I need to get over it!
Thanks for your input.

Cathy, INSIST that your surgeon find out what is causing your problems. It could be an ulcer possibly or even a kink in your bowls that fixes itself. Have you tried a liquid or bland diet to see if it helps you?
Sorry you are experiencing this and for so long; I'd definitely DEMAND test be done to determine what is going on.

I know the pain you are going through as for I have been having similar pain for about 2 years now and I am 3 years out of surgery. The pain got so severe the beginning of this year that my coworkers called 911 for me and they did every test possible. My surgeon then admitted me for 3 days for an endoscopy which came back normal. When this pain first started they did find an ulcer through endoscopy. But this time around they couldn't find anything. I just went to my surgeon last week and she put me on prevacid then prilosec. The prevacid seems to be working so I am assuming it's the acid reflux (which I had the barium swallow series done) or ulcer again. I go back in February to follow up so I will see how the pain is. My problem is that I smoke and my surgeon said I will always have the pain until I stop.
