Accountability - Monday
This is definitely a dangerous time of year but I found a strategy! I'm making all the old cookies that my mother used to make for the holidays for my family at the Christmas Eve celebration this year and when I finish a batch and they've cooled, I bag them and put them in the bottom of the fridge out of sight. I've noticed that the stuff on the bottom shelf gets missed most times and I don't look there when I want a snack. Mind games but I bet I have all those cookies when I leave Wednesday night! Now what to do about all those warm cookies cooling on the counter!?
List for Monday:
B: oatmeal, soy protein, tvp, dried cherries and soy milk, coffee
2B: 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon and a half cup of home fries.
Snack: 1 bag Sun Chips
Lunch: 4 oz ceviche on 16 whole grain crackers
Snack: 1 warm ginger cookie
Dinner: 1 stuffed bell pepper (ground meat, cheese, onion, bbq sauce-no crumbs) and 1/3 cup broccoli spears
No dessert although I meant to have some NSA Ice cream. I actually fell asleep at 7 pm last night. Of course, I was up at 3 am this morning cuz, I'm basically done sleeping. Now I'm doing laundry and surfing the internet. LOL.
Numbers for the day:
Calories; 1664
Fat: 68.2
Carbs: 154.4
Protein: 108.0
How did you do? Are the holidays really hard this year? Paul in Dallas has some great tips and Kathy S is doing some amazing posts on re-gaining control and getting on track...Keep up the good work and stay tuned. You just never know. Something you post may spark a nerve in someone else and help them. At the very least, it tells people they aren't alone in their struggle, no matter what that struggle is!

The bottom of the fridge trick works for me too! I'm tired of fighting the junk monster this time of year so If i do indulge, I allow myself 1 thing. If something brings something to work and I cant fight the temptation, I have 1 or a small peice of something. My weight is stable so I'm just trying to hang on til the holidays are over!

Hey Kay and Dawn,
I have a couple of quick questions for ya:
Dawn, how do you add the TVP to your oatmeal? Do you reconstitute it first, or put it in there dry? I've never used TVP, but I bought some recently and I would love to bump up the protein in some oatmeal or cream of wheat. Yum, warm winter breakfast.
Kay, how do you make your protein hot chocolate?
Thanks, ladies. By the way, I really appreciate your diligence in posting... it helps me to see what "normal" looks like post-WLS.
Have a wonderful Christmas!

I add 1/4 cup of TVP to my oatmeal before I microwave it. 1/3 cup instant oats, 1/4 cup TVP, 1 Tablespoon of Soy Protein (vanilla flavor) and 1 cup of soy milk...Microwave for one minute, stir, one minute, stir and one minute more.
Most days I add a cup of Motts Fruit Sauce (like apple sauce) that's No sugar Added to that.
Today I made mini quiches and used Taco flavored TVP and reconstituted that before I put it in with the eggs...Yumo. LOVE TVP...

I use diet swiss miss hot chocolate. The diet has less sugar and carbs than the sugar free.
Put on envelope of hot chocolate and 1 scoop of protein in the bottom of a big mug
( My 2 favorite proteins are Vanilla cinnamon by IDS & Latte Cappicuano by Nectar)
Then... Heat 10 oz of water or milk. If you do it on the stove, remove the pot from the stove just before it boils because if it's too hot, the protein will clump and it's gross!!
While the liquid is heating up, I pour a little of it in the mug and stir the chocolate and protein really well til it's like a thick paste. ( this prevents it from being lumpy)
Then when it's hot, pour the rest of the liquid in the mug and constantly stir.
Enjoy!!
