Update on bowel obstruction, etc.
I did very well with the weight, I maintained the same as usual. I did order 2 entrees every night, in order to taste of some great food. I realize I am greedy. I guess this contributed to my big fat butt to begin with.
Even though I ordered too much food each night, I couldn't eat but a small portion, and didn't try to pu****
I did ok with the partial small bowel obstruction, but 2 days before I got home I began to have symptoms. Bloating, pain, gas, feeling constipated, then having diarrhea the same day. I started on soups, yogurt, and other liquids, jello etc. at the first sign. It took me a week after I got home to feel that it had completely resolved itself.
I am working on getting together enough money to have surgery in case I end up completely obstructed and can't avoid having it corrected with surgery.
At this point, I can live with it as long as the pain is gone. I really have to watch what I eat, and I continue with the enzymes, gas-x and papaya extracts the doctor reccomended. No red meat, and chew everything well. .Have aditional fiber as long as I'm not having symptoms, and drink lots of liquids. And never ever take Imodium!
For all you who have lived with or suffered with a bowel obstruction, you have my sympathy and my prayers. It's hard isn't it?
This post has me more motivated to be sure I get all my fluids in. Thanks!

I'm dealing with this right now and it sucks!
I've had a few episodes of abdominal pain and bloating over the past 6 months or so, but it resolved in a few hours and it seemed like no harm done.
Well on Saturday I skipped breakfast - which I never do but got rushed out of the house to go get a Christmas tree...anyway, didn't eat lunch until about 2pm and stupidly ordered mozarella cheese sticks (I was thinking I needed the extra calories). But I ate it too fast because I was hungry. About 2 hours later I started with nausea and abdominal discomfort which quickly progressed to excrutiating abd pain, nausea, vomiting clear stuff, and unable to get any liquids to stay in. Went to the ER and was admitted for dehydration and possible obstruction. The CT scan only showed a small fistula between the pouch and the remnant stomach but they don't believe that was the cause of the pain because my liver enzymes and bilirubin shot up which means there was an obstruction somewhere in the plumbing. 2 doses of morpheine didn't cut the pain but Demerol eventually did and by Sunday morning the pain was gone with only a general achiness and the nausea remaining.
Now I have to go do an upper GI and an endoscopy to see if we can figure it out. The theory is that there was some blockage (maybe due to the cheese?) at the j-j anastamosis and either a small hernia and/or adhesions. They are talking about more surgery depending on the other test results. Blech!
I'm still nauseated with that stupid watery mouth thing all day long and I see the doc on Tuesday for follow-up.
Sigh... fun stuff - NOT!
