Pain in Shoulder if over eating! Help!!
I have been wanting to ask this question and kept thinking it would go away. I have since day one had shoulder pain mostly in my left shoulder if I over eat. Generally that is my que to stop. Cant tell when I am full via my stomach. If I keep eating then my mid back will hurt and the right shoulder too. I usually do not let it get that far. If it does the nose will run too. lol. I have searched the board over and over and can't find much on the subject. I am nearly 6 months out now and know it isn't a sign of a leak or anything like that. Just wondering if this is for life and why it is happening. Any input would be great.
Thanks

Before surgery, when I suffered from GERD, I had pain in my shoulder when the acid got up into my esophagus and if it was a really bad case of indigestion my chest, back and right shoulder would hurt; basically exactly what you are describing. So this may be food, fluid or acid getting into your esophagus when you have reached the "ate too much" point. I don't have that problem anymore but I do get a runny nose, followed by a completely stuffed nose if I keep eating. I'll also get hiccups at about the same time as the runny nose comes on. You're right though, the old "full" feeling doesn't exist any more. We have to rely on other cues and it took a while to learn what those cues were. I'm over three years out and as soon as I get one hiccup, I stop eating.
Good luck on your quest,

Hi. I have the same symptoms.. and always wondered about it.. but never asked!~
the 'feeling' is in the left shoulder, and sometimes goes over to the chest... it is not a fun feeling, but never really scared me. I knew it had something to do with eating, but could never figure out HOW my SHOULDER got involved into the food business, lol Karin

I do not intend to be mean, BUT if you have pain you know what you're doing wrong.
You need to start measuring every bit you eat for a while. Do not go by pain because you are stretching your pouch or the stoma!
At 6 months you should be eating less than a measuring cup of food per meal. Most people eat around 1/2 cup every few hours.
This is important because if you continue to push your pouch to the point of pain, you will regain your lost weight.
