What is the "average" caloric intake a day for someone 18 months out who wants to maintain? How many oz/meal?
Thanks!

There's really too many variables to give you one straight answer there-- depends on your exercise, your resting metabolic rate, etc.

That having been said, I am 5' 5" and 160 pounds. My RMR is around 1600, so I can presumably safely eat up to 1600 calories a day without exercise and maintain. I was told I am pretty darn typical-- that most people can safely eat up to about 10 times their weight in calories.

I eat 1200 calories a day. About 40% protein (110-130g a day still.) My meals are between 8-12 oz., protein first and foremost, several snacks.

Hello, my name is Fanny, I just had the gastric bypass on Wed 11/19/08. I am extremely frustrated with the diet already, jello , broth , and crytsal light. You seem to know what you are talking about, please help me. I was 248 before surgery and since Wed I have already lost 16 lb putting me at 232and I am 5ft 4in in height. I am starting to get very emotional as well, I was not aware how much I counted on food for happiness. I need some help and support, I am not sure of anything right now.

My NUT reccomends getting a metabolism test to figure out what *your* body needs.
The average for my surgeons patients maintaining is 1200... personally I need 1400-1800 to maintain my weight based on my metabolism test. I know other people who had surgery the same time as me eating as much as 2000 calories... so its hard to say! :-)
As for how much per meal my guidelines were 1.5-2 cups total.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

Thank you for the input. I know it's different for everybody, but it's nice to just get a general idea. Thanks again :)
