Hello ladies (sorry gentlemen reading, don't need your input on this one).

I am looking to see before and after pics of ladies that started out at around 270 lbs and around 5'6"-5'7" tall. I would love to see how you've kept it off and what I can guesstimate what I might look like later.

I know that everyone is different, everyone loses differently and that each surgery is different (I am having RNY in January).

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

Anita

I'm taller than you (5'10) but started at 270, had surgery at 255 and now weigh about 168 to 170. I've maintained my weight by watching portions, not munching, getting outside and moving and weighing a couple times/week.

I would like to lose another 20 lbs and I know I need to get back on track not drinking alcohol or soda, staying away from chips/cookies and eating more protein while getting in more fluids in addition to cardio... which I hate. I'm hoping after the holidays to find the motivation to get back in action.

Anita, I'm shorter than you (5'2") started out at 260 lbs and have been maintaining for 3 years (I'll be 4 years out in Feb).  I've maintained by staying on track with good choices 90% of the time.  I can't attribute my success to exercise at all I hate it.  Although I do suggest you exercise, find something you do enjoy.  Toning the muscles helps tremendously with metabolism and how you look physically.

Good luck!

Hi Anita,
I had sugery on 1/23/06. I am 5'6". I started out around 250 and I am now down to 151. I bounce any where from 155 to 150. I have been as low as 145, but only for about 5 mins and then back up. I guess my body wants to stay at this weight. My personal goal is 140, but I am doubtful that it will ever happen. I exercise about 2-3 times a week with cardio and weights. I work a 12 hour day shift work so it is hard for me to keep a regular work out schedule. I do reccomend that you start out doing something as soon as you are able. Even if it is just a small daily walk. I truley believe that if you start working out early, your weight loss will be greater. I did not start working out until 1 year after. ( dont ask... I dont know why...) I eat small portions and TRY to choose wisely. I can eat just about anything that I want without dumping. ( which makes me so frustrated!!) If I want something that is fried, or sugary, I eat a small bite or two. I know I shouldn't, but I do....
Good luck on your journey!
Cath

RNY on 01/23/11 with
I had my surgery on may of 2006.  I am 5 6  I weight 267 the day of surgery.  I wore 22-24 and now I weigh 132-137 depending on the day.  I can wear size 4 or 6.  I just walk 3 days a week and follow all the rules.  every so often I eat something that isn't the best choice but I dont' over do it anymore.  I really feel great.   Keeping it off is just having the desire to not go there again.   Sort of like bell bottom pants and earth shoes.  Been there done that and DON'T ever want to do it again.
Stay strong and love yourself

I am a bit taller...about 5'10. Was 260 at 1st consult, down to 234 the day of surgery. Currently about 173 (up and down and up and down). I would like to get down to 155, but I think I would have to live at the gym to get there.

I started at a size 18-20, am currently an 8.

Highest 6/98:  289     1st consult 9/07:  260          5'11"
WLS 1/7/08:   234      Lowest 8/08:       164.5
