Magnesium
I take magnesium daily. In fact, I take a mineral supplement daily and it's in there. It's also in some of my calcium/ magnesium combo. About 6oo mg a day, is what I figure I'm taking.
Always, always take your iron alone. Anything else taken with it, distracts the iron from being absorbed. Having said that, I take my magnesium whenever I'm taking my other minerals or calcium.
Sometimes amounts higher than 400 to 600 mg a day, can cause loose stools. So be aware of how much you're getting, and adjust it, if you're getting a "little loose". Also, it helps you relax a bit, so taking it at night is ideal.

I take it! I am chronically magnesium deficient! I get pretty horrible symptoms when I am low and the side effects of magnesium are NOTHING compared to being low mag.
Magnesium is an electrolyte and as far as I know does not interact with any vits except in a good way....It keeps iron an calcium citrate from binding you as well as works hand in hand with calcium citrate for absorption.
When I am mag low....I get charlie horses mostly in my legs that feel like my thighs are in a giant vice grip from groin to knee...It paralyses me in agony for 14 -20 minutes if I cannot get to a calcium citrate with magnesium...I chew 2 Twin Lab calcium Citrates and the pain stops within a minute! Sometime I cannot make it to the jar and have to scream for help...When my mag is really really low....I get these muscle spasms in my hands, face, toes, arms...EVERYWHERE! It's quite painful...I also get very ADD and forgetful...Head in a cloud...can't remember how to do simple things...like spell or type accurately. I get anxiety attacks and even vision type hallucinations...Oh yeah...FUN FUN!
So too much mag can give you diarrhea...and that's what makes it so great as a laxative too! (That can cause gassy pains along with he diarrhea) I use magnesium citrate and take 1500- a day to manage my mag...2000 mgs when I feel low. But You need to drink a lot of water and stay hydrated...That helps...Leafy greens are where most mag comes from naturally...I carry the Twin labs mag in my purse because it has 500mg of mag oxide that delivers when chewed IMMEDIATELY for those bad charlie horses. I have been taking mag supps for a year now faithfully and there are times I forget and don't drink enough water when working out hard and I am certain to have an episode...I take my CC at night for this purpose...
Hope that helps! This is only my experiences and I have not done intense research on magnesium...so there might be even more! But I'm pretty sure it's harmless UNLESS you are deficient and have my mag problems! That's far worse than a little looseness...and ibtw, the looseness only happens once a day and not all day where you have to worry or know the location of the toilets in the area! LOL It's not like that either!

There is a difference... I have not actually noticed a huge difference except that some forms are more gentle than others! Magnesium Citrate will CERTAINLY get you moving...and yet is more gentle on the system...You can take liquid magnesium citrate in a little 8 oz glass bottle found in the pharmacy section usually and have a movement in an hour or so! But along comes some serious cramping, but it moves out fast if you know what I mean! In smaller doses it doesn't make me cramp at all and just keeps things regular. I take this in powder form to prevent mag def...but I forget too often...
My Calcium citrate has 500 mg of magnesium oxide in a dose and it doesn't bother me at all...but keeps things moving....gently and slowly as well as keep my magnesium levels up especially in a hurry...No cramps either. But I still supp with the mag citrate too.
I think you just have to see which one works the best on you...There are even more forms, but these two I know work and work well...I just gotta be better at taking them...ALL the time!

Thanks Anita!
I took Mag Citrate for my pre-op cleansing. The one in the little green bottle. I have never heard of it in powder form and that is something I think I could tolerate. Would you tell me where you find it? Do you mix it in water or just mix it with any liquid? Does it have any flavor?
Questions, questions, questions!!
Thanks,
C.J.
