more bad days than good
I have more days where i eat unhealthy junk...
last week i had 2 good days out of 7.
one day at a time..
so this week.. i will try for at least 3 good days. and i will give up candy for the week...
is it doable???? NOT.... but i am gonna attempt...
with failure... for sure..
but to start the battle... i gotta think positively. so i will not have candy for the rest of the week... last week i went 1 day without candy.. so is it is impossible for me to go a whole week? i will try.
so.... today for breakfast.. i had a hershey's with almonds and 1/2 pack of Talk 5 candy bar.
bad start.. but i vow to have a good rest of the day.

"I am currently getting back on track!
I have to take it hour by hour and truly appreciate any hour I made a good choice as to what went into my mouth. I feel too bad with the day by day thing because I rarely ever make it daily without sugar. I compensate by watching every calorie and being hungry for the night if I use them foolishly instead of wisely. Halloween was HELL for me and even though I have always been more of a sugar than food eater thanksgiving is scaring me already because I have literally been dreaming about a turkey, cranberry sauce & stuffing sandwich on which bread....YUMMY
I have a short term goal of getting through to Jan 17th..my usual weigh in date with Doc ..and not gaining more than 5 pounds...its gonna be hard

hour by hour.. well, that sounds like a better way for me to take it.... it may be easier to think that maybe i messed up this hour.. but next hour i can do better.
i have never been to a check up after surgery with the doctor. i should make an appointment now. thanks for the idea.
I just made an appointment for mid december.
i am also more of a sugar eater than a food eater.. struggling to do better.
like i just ate nachos for lunch.. i want to go get the cookies for dessert... but i am sitting here typing;; just to prevent myself from going to get them.

Hi, I'm glad to hear you've made an appointmen to see your surgeon. Do I understand that you had your surgery in November of 2005 and haven't had a follow-up with your surgeon? Do you take your vitamins, calcium, etc.? Did you reach goal after your surgey, and if so, have you gained any of your weight back? Do you have bloodwork done? Do you get in enough protein and liquids?
I'm curious because I had my surgery in December of 2005 and I have been to see my surgeon 4-5 times since then. I have bloodwork drawn every six months to make sure everything is OK.
It sounds like you need some guidance and/or support. I don't want to sound too harsh, but we had our bodies permanently altered and that seems way too serious to me to not do what we need to do to take care of ourselves and to watch what we eat, etc.
I hope you take your supplements - that can be very serious. My friend is in the process of having iron infusions on a weekly basis. She is seriously low on iron.
I have to watch everything I put into my mouth everyday. I don't eat any refined carbs - none -- no bread, pasta, rice. I eat no potatoes. I'm not saying I'm perfect at this. It is hard work. I also drink 2-3 protein shakes per day to make sure I get in enough good protein. Maybe some of these things would help you.
Please take care.
Linda

I am guessing you are using a snack machine/cafe to get these foods? Why not try packing your own foods and commit to eating those... its hard when you are hungry and there are only bad choices around. I find if I pack my lunch I will eat it because I dont want to bring it back home and most of the times its not as good the next day (stuff gets soggy or whatnot)... you could also make a rewards system by putting the money aside you would have spent on the junk - save up for something special - a massage, shopping, something for the house... basically anything not food related - you will quickly see how all that money will add up... that has been another huge incentive for me - I can buy more shoes when I eat the lunch I pack .
Its hard to break the sugar/carb cycle - especially in the beginning... if you make it thru the first few days you should find it easier. Perhaps check out the 5daypouchtest.com you may need something 'extreme' to help you break the habit and can start fresh since you are struggling to tell yourself no. Also try food logging see how many calories/fat/carbs/sugar you are getting, maybe that will get you thinking twice?

My Wii Fit reminded me of this just now...The balance game of Soccer. You tilt back and forth and hit the balls with your head and miss the shoes as much as you can. When you hit a ball it gives you one point. If you get the next one 2 points. then three...and up to 10. If you get that eleventh ball you get 10 points. each ball after that is 10 points...If you miss one, you're back to one point again...
So it is with keeping steady on your eating. If you manage to stay away from the sugar for an hour, you get a point. Two hours, two points...Three hours three points. But if you mess up, you're back to a single point. The longer you can go without the sugar, the better you will feel and the worse you'd feel when you give in and have some...
Get rid of the candy bars. they're evil. You have to do that to start the battle. Draw a line in the sand and refuse to cross it...Get stubborn with yourself. Otherwise you'll get hit in the head with a soccer cleat...LOL.

I can't write much right now, but I just wanted to pop in here and say you are SO not alone. I could have written your post. So although I know what to say to you, I have a hard/impossible time saying the same things to myself. (Actually, I say them to myself, but I am struggling very badly to carry anything out.)
Keep posting--whether you're doing bad or good or some combination. It helps others like me. I even feel guilty posting because my avatar no longer looks like me (it was taken at my lowest weight); I need to change it but don't know how to myself & have been too lazy to send a different one to the OH staff for sizing & posting!
