Curious for the long term situation

Hi all!  I haven't been on OH much in the last six months.  We moved and I started a new job and things have been hectic to say the least.  I had surgery in May 2006 and I have reached my goal.  I have had a 15 pound bounce back.  I also had surgery 6 months ago to eleviate a partial bowel obstruction (insusseption) and diverticulitis.  Ever since that surgery, I have found it easy to put on a couple of pounds quite easily.  I was in a lot of pain before this last surgery (obviously) so eating wasn't hight on my priority list (except for my protein shake and bars!)

What I am wondering now is this.  Have any of you had good longer term success getting back on track and  losing the extra pounds?  It was effortless to lose weight for the first two year w/out much of an appetite.  Now that I can eat after taking care of my obstruction, I feel weird like I won't be able to stop.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks
Rachael

I think you & I were in the same boat. I had a bowel obstruction at 2 years out & after that was when I gained my 20 lbs. I have not gained since then but It did seem very easy that that 20 came on all of a sudden. I do find it extremely hard to get that 20 off and its been 3 years since then. I can say I haven't been able to get rid of it but I also haven't gained any since then.

That certainly is interesting isn't it?  Well...if I never lost the extra the world would not collapse, as long as I don't gain anymore.  It's just been a whole different 'food story' since having the surgery for the obstruction.  It appears that I absorb a whole lot more now...even with medications I absorb more too.

I gained about 25 pounds during my bowel obstruction surgery ordeal in a week (most of it fluids) but within two weeks lost 40! How long ago was your surgery? It takes a while to get back to normal, you pile on a LOT of water.
