Also...do a week of just writing down what you eat and how much...AND how much and what sorts of fluids you are taking in...Do this on something like dailyplate or fitday.com...It really does put a "face" on what you are eating instead of just a guestimate.

You can pull your boat around and head in the right direction! Good luck!
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I went to the Dr the other day and have gained 20 pounds in the last year. I was so discusted with myself, I had told myself after surgery that I would never do this to myself again, and here I am. I had stopped weighing myself, journaling, excersising everything we are suppose to do. I thought the weight would just stay off because I had WLS, NOT. I started back to basics this week and guess what "the tool still work" if you work it. I have been writing down everything, walking everyday, and eating protein and veggies, and LOTS of water. I was down 3 pounds this morning and thats a good start for me.  The carbs are the culprit. It starts with just 1/2 potatoe or a couple crackers or chips or one peice of bread but before you know it your eating a whole sandwich. After surgery I never thought I would ever be able to eat as much as I can, my husband is amazed. He always says I remember when you couldnt even eat 1/2 cup of yogurt or cottage cheese.  To bad it doesnt stay that way. Everday is a struggle and we have all gained a little here and there, 20 or 40 pounds is better than 100, but we need to get it under control before it controls us again, good luck, Debra

Cayita,
You know what to do to lose this weight. It's only 40 pounds and you will lose it again, it will take time but this is not a race, this is for lifetime.
Time to get your brain back on track also.

Reminders:
Don't drink with meals, follow the 30/20/30 rule
Reach for protien first then veggies/fruits
Exercise...this is a must...are you exercising?

Questions to ask yourself:
Why am I sabbotaging myself?
Why do I reach for food to comfort myself, what is bothering me?

Stop beating yourself up, but now is the time to pick yourself up and start a whole new lifestyle. This is not a diet, this is lifestyle change, you fell back into your old eating habits. You are not alone. Be kind to yourself.

Are you attending a bariatric support group? If not go!
Are you drinking alcohol? If you are stop for now until you get back down to goal.
Do you have any transfer addictions that need to be addressed?

Good luck, you are a success, now get motivated. Remember you gotta move to lose!

Call your surgeon and make an appointment - get your bloodwork done, get an appointment with a NUT to help you with your eating, find a support group - there are many in the South Florida area, get a psych that has experience with post-WLS patients and get the help and possibly medications, to help you get back on track.

I agree with everyone. Go back to the basics.
Maybe try the 5 day pouch test to get started? I am not saying it works, i have never tried it, but it seems it has structure to get you started back on your own schedule.

Count me IN!  Since WLS I have gained back 15 lbs.  Seriously want to lose it and get back down to my lowest weight!  I am so disgusted with myself.  I know the tool still works because when I eat my meals I do not eat much but the sweets and crap go down really easy!  I have started upping my water as a start.  I am all in favor of a support thread and perhaps a weekly weigh in.  This could be OUR Weigh****chers group!

Good Luck to US!
