My best suggestion, go to Eggface's blog and take a look at some of her recipes.
I'm glad to hear you have the strength to leave that abusive relationship. If you can do that, you can deal with food issues!

Hi,
Sorry you are havin suvh a hard time. I know you are experiencing some deep emotions right now and thinking straight is hard. Are you thinking of getting some emotional support? Are there groups in your area who help people who have been abused? Please consider getting some support. When the mind is calm, you will think more clearly.
If you go to your profile, there is a photo tab. You can upload photos from your computer.
Paula
Look in the front of your phonebook. Most have a listing of supports. If not, try the internet and search for a local group. At the least, I am sure there is a yahoogroup that would have support groups listed. Also try through your local social services, check the government pages in your phone book as well.
Under My OH tab, it says, My Photos. I don't understand why they are not uploading. You may want to contact OH.

I'm going to steal a suggestion from Michael Pollan for you: Eat food ... Mostly plants
That would reduce your shopping list to two things: "1) Real Food 2) Plants" The application is rather easy:
Eat food: Read the label and eat things that contain ingredients your grandparents would recognize. Like, suppose you wanted Yogurt:
Fake Food*: Water, ultra-filtered skim milk, cream, contains less than 1% of whey protein concentrate, modified corn starch, natural and artificial flavors, kosher gelatin, sucralose (Splenda® brand), potassium sorbate, malic acid, annato extract (for color), caramel color, sodium citrate, Red 40, Blue 1. Contains active yogurt cultures.
Real Food: Grade A pasteurized milk and cream, live active yogurt cultures (L.Bulgaricus, S.Thermophilus)
You could do the same thing with any number of foods: bread, peanut butter, etc.
Mostly Plants: Obviously lettuce and spinach, but berries, apples, carrots, beets, all have their place. Don't get carrots made into something, just get carrots. You will have to prepare and cook some meals, but at least you know what you are eating.
* Happens to be Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt

Anita,
Here are a few things I always have on hand that maybe helpful for you.
Pre-cooked chicken breast (buy them from Costco) you can nuke them.
Low Fat Cottage cheese (lovely with the chicken breast)
Prunes (yep just dried plums) they serve 2 purposes, a fruit and keep you regular.
No sugar added fudgesicles
Peanut butter.
Frozen Fruit mix (thow it into the blender with some protein powder and plain yogurt and you have a wonderful drink).
beans, beans and more beans (canned) easy to throw into a salad or eaten alone.
Almonds (always keep a big bag around) great for Omega 3's, fiber and fill you up.
Baby steps.

Anita,
If I'm eating a chicken breast with cottage cheese I very rarely finish the small breast (dense protein tends to fill me quickly). I eat fruit and veggies with no restriction, or until 3/4 full as I know the other 1/4 full will happen if I stop where I should. You may also want to eat 6 small meals a day to help with your metabolism and keeping it stable.
What are you doing for exercise?
